Hey everybody! I just finished spending the afternoon redesigning The Manual to match the yet-to-be-launched new landing page for sabnzbd.org.

The new manual design isn't totally done yet, there are still a couple things I want to tweak, namely:
- Mess with padding on the "top menu" links (quick links, contact, donations, etc), or relocate those links altogether (leaning towards relocating) (Collapsed into a single "sabnzbd.org" menu)
- Fix the weird coloring of expanded hovered items (expand the Configuration 0.5.x section, hover a link) caused by wikidot setting opacity: 0.9999 on them for some reason. (changed hover color to black)
- Get the main logo to link to wiki.sabnzbd.org on-click. this might be tricky, but I want to get it done. (can't do this due to XSS issues)

Once I've got that, I'm going to start tackling the content of the manual.

With that all said, how do you guys think we can make the manual better? Please let us know so we can make the manual as useful as possible for you, the end user.

Content hint: ditch this old page: http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/install-ubuntuserver804
Its existence suggests that this particular ubuntu release should be tackled in some special way while in fact using the repo will work just fine.

Done, it's gone.

Fixed my other issues, except for making the logo link to wiki.sabnzbd.org. Can't do that due to limitations in wikidot. Sad

Oh well.

I'm now trying to clean up the sidebar menu and consolidate some of our miscellaneous help articles, and make sure stuff is up to date for 0.5.

Updates!

- Messed with the top-bar content, it now looks dropdown-ish, and the user stuff (that none of you use) is now up and partially hidden.
- Started rewriting pages:
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/quick-setup -> http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/quick-setup-v2
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq -> http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq-v2
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/history
- Made various other page updates for 0.5 stuff

Todo:
- Rewrite http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/quick-usage
- Rewrite the various install pages (possibly consolidate)

Got the rewritten quick-usage page up:

http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/usage

Open to suggestions for what else to add to this page, stuff that would be related to how to use SABnzbd.

Heya.

http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/nzb-specs currently contains an NZB 1.0 spec - you appear to be starting to become the definitive source for the NZB specification now (though trying to get a minimal docs page back up on docs.newzbin.com) so could you update it to NZB 1.1? This basically includes the meta tags.

The old wiki markup from the newzbin docs is available at http://thestra.telon.net/nzb/wiki_markup.txt along with the 1.1 dtd at http://thestra.telon.net/nzb/nzb-1.1.dtd

Cheers Smiley

Thanks, Caesium! We're not trying to make a power play, it just seemed like it would be a good idea to mirror what I could. Latest version that was available on archive.org is what I used.

Hi there,

I have recently been installing SABznbd on a couple of CentOS 5.4 servers, and have rewritten the documentation you have currently at http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/install-centos5 for myself to assist me with deployment, mainly because of the requirement for a higher version of Python.

If you are interested, I have attached a copy to this post (plain text, but it's pretty obvious where the code-bits are). It includes info on where to find updated packages, and uses the EPEL repository.

Hope this helps!

Great, I have copied it to our Wiki ( http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/install-centos54).
BTW: we do still support Python 2.4, only we do very little testing and occasionally
something sneaks in that is not compatible. We fix such issues subsequent releases.

I was under the impression that it was no longer "officially" supported. But in any case I tend to install 2.6 alongside CentOS' 2.4 on most of my servers by default.

Glad I could help someone Smiley

I tried to include links to find the latest sources for the Python modules in the event that the "current version" links go stale.
The only thing I can't find officially hosted anywhere at all is the yEnc module. There are a couple of places hosting the exact same file as SABnzbd Sourceforge, but the author link in the readme is dead.

Just to let you know there is a little mistake in http://sabnzbd.wikidot.com/quick-setup

In "Ubuntu Linux" section it's not /etc/defaults/sabnzbdplus but /etc/default/sabnzbdplus  (no S to defaultS)
