First of all, thank you for a great util.
I was wondering if SSL support is being pursued actively or it is being given a lower priority?
It is more or less the only thing left i really miss
Kind regards.
Michael

It is not planned for inclusion in 0.3.0 but should be in the next major release.
Initial planning and development has already started, however it seems SSL isn't that mature in python 2.4 and 2.5 and some bugs may get in the way (python 2.6 is much better!). It also may require a re-write of some of the downloading code.

@dragsterburn:
Stunnel could be an option - http://www.giganews.com/faq.html#q7.4

Thanks for the feedback
Really nice to know what to expect realisticly. The problem for me with stunnel, is that i am using sabnzbd on a nas server (Synology) where sabnzbd support is developed as third party software, so i can't just install anything myself, it has to be adapted to the NAS by the Linux guru's working on the it.
Would it be easier to merge the stunnel software with sabnzbdplus in general developement maybe?

According to http://ipkgfind.nslu2-linux.org/details ... d=14108758 it is already adapted to synology. You just need to install it with "ipkg install stunnel".
I have no experience neither with synology nor with stunnel, but hope it may work.
However encryption requires CPU power and SSL on NAS could result in a major speed loss.

You can install stunnel on another machine on your network and point SAB at that.

Stunnel isn't supported for my Synology NAS yet, it's the ARM marvell cpu used by the newer x07+ versions. I hadn't thought about the extra CPU power used by the SSL, that can actually be a big issue on a NAS.
duz: The whole point is to save power by making the NAS a download server, so having an extra computer running stunnel is not an option, but cool feature actually.

If you are using GigaNews on a windows box, you can use their accelerator to get SSL support. It works fine on my setups.

dragsterburn,
looks like since 11 Jan. optware-packages are available for x07+ devices also - http://www.synology.com/enu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6383
You could give stunnel a try now.
It would be interesting to know how SSL affects download speed on NAS.
