This is a HOWTO to test your SABnzbd setup.
You can use this when your downloads result in "Repair failed, not enough repair blocks (... short) " or "Out of your server's retention?", and you wonder what is going on. See http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc11 and http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc31 for a full explanation. Starting from Q4 2012, more and more DMCA take-down notices are the cause of such problems. Below is a way to verify that.
The goal of this test is to check if your setup (SABnzbd, Internet connection, Newsserver provider) is working OK at all. The way to do this is download something that can't be affected by a DMCA take-down notice. In our example we take a Ubuntu Server download, which is open source.
1) Choose a NZB with par2 files from: http://binsearch.info/index.php?q=ubunt ... &postdate=
2) Create the .NZB, download it and upload it into SABnzbd
3) Wait for the result. If it is successful, it shows the setup is working (and thus the faulty downloads could be caused by DMCA)
