first segment missing, abort?

first segment missing, abort?

Postby trax » March 9th, 2008, 11:47 am

I saw a post have the first segment missing from every file, which sab downloaded no files!
With a setting of fail_on_crc = 0 didn't make any difference.
Had to download in another client as a result.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
In my other news client, although the first segment is unavailable, the rest was there.

I hope a fix can be put in before 0.3.3 is finished.

Thats on old bug indeed that the old maker (tdian) promised to fix a long time ago. I made a detailed bug report for that at least 1 or 1.5 year ago.

I believe that he tried, but it didnt work then. He promised to fix it later. But now tdian is gone the bug report will be gone too i gues.

The problem was that if from a nzb the first article was missing, it didnt save the file, even if all the other parts were dloaded. Newsleecher however had no probem with the same nzb.

I was not aware of this problem.
Consider it registered as a bug and we will work on it.

BTW, a missing first article is a potentially nasty problem. The actual filename is stored in the first article. If this is missing, then SABnzbd has to guess the filename from the subject line. This is not a very reliable method, given the mess many uploaders make of it.

Could you email the particular NZB file to bugs@sabnzbd.org ?

Shypike, doesn't par2 automatically rename the bad noname file to the real file name? Quickpar can do that... or does that only work when the first segment is present.

Don't think so.
If the file get's a wrong name, how is QuickPar to know this. It can reconstruct complete files if enough repair blocks are available, but in this case all files are missing.

We must study this problem further.
I hope trax sends the NZB.

I think I have th source of this sorted, going to need more testing to make sure it doesn't interfere with anything else.
