[APP] NzbSearcher - 2 Dec 2011 - Version 2.0.5.6

Post by Heimiko »

I discovered SABnzbd not that long ago, simply an awesome app!
I was missing a desktop app (win32) that integrates SABnzbd with some search engines.
So I created NZBSearcher. Right now it sists between being beta and being rock solid stable.
Still, it's already quite usefull. It's build from the ground up to be quite easy to add more search providers,
so more will be integrated, not just NZBindex.nl, NzbMatrix.com, YabSearch.com and NZB.su
More features will be coming very soon, stay tuned!

Functionality and Usability first, eye candy later  8)

Sounds interesting, I'll try it out tonight. NZBindex is my preferred search engine. Thanks!

Hi, I've just  tried it.

I'm using windows vista.  It started up, showed  a config window on top of the main prog window and then a window pops up that says "nbzsearcher has stopped working"
with a close program button.

Hi, what are the exact steps that you do?
The config box opens up, do you fill in any data, and press OK?
Do you leave everything blank and press OK?
or do you cancel the box?

to try and narrow down what exactly goes wrong, try to be as specific as possible.
thanks for the feedback

I experimented with different scenarios, I encountered a bug when API key was left empty or invalid.
This is now fixed, find the update in the first post.
try it again and let me know if it works for you this time.

I renamed the file, extracted  the `exe' from inside it and ran it.

I didn't get to the stage of filling in data, the program window pops up then the config window pops with the `localhost:port number' already filled in, in the box and then immediately a `windows error' window pops up telling me that nzbsearcher has stopped working.

I'll download your update and try that out.

Got the latest version and that fixed it.  it's working.

It seems to be a great little util as I always use NZBindex for my nzb searches.

Mant thanks for the update.

P.S. 15mins later
The prog is working great, I wonder if in a future version it would be possible to select xvid or h264 (HD)?

Good to hear!

You mean, to search in specific groups, as you can do on the site?
Sure, I think its easy enough to add, so you can expect this coming up next.
pls let me know if this is what you mean, so I'm not working for nada ;-)

No not specific group/s.  I mean if there is a post with both xvid and H264 (High def) versions, I could type in the search box, "fringe and xvid"  or "fringe and h264" so that the search would throw up one or the other but not both.

Really I'm talking about the  search box being able to do `boolean?' (not sure if that's the right term) types, using the `and' , `not' , `or', arguments.

Maybe your search box already does it, I never thought to check it out when I replied before.

Nup, my search box doesn't use the specific groups yet.

What I gather from you, is that you'd like a result filter, correct?
ie. You did a search, and from the search, you'd only like to see a subset?

It doesn't matter it already works, I just tried it.

typing "fringe(space)xvid" only shows the xvid posts  and
typing "fringe(space)X264" only shows the hi-def versions

The `space'  ='s an explicit `and'  like it does on google, yahoo,  etc.

Many thanks for your prog, sorry I distracted you.

ah, oke, i understand now.
so yes indeed, that works.
glad you're helped.
I'm halfway of implementing those specific search groups right now,
because I assumed that's what you meant (at first) so I just started on that.
I won't throw it away, I'll finish it, so that'll be in the next release.
