SabNZBd Remote Access

Post by sjoes »

Hey,

I have a quick question about accessing remote admin.
I currently have cable internet at my new home and because it's 100+ Mbit/s I don't use a router yet, because my capable router is at my parents house abroad.
So the situation is 1 pc connected by UTP to my modem. This is a windows Vista PC and Panda Security Suite 2010 (firewall etc).
SABNZBd is added to the exceptions list.

I've tried accessing it with different IPs last night. For example the 127.0.0.x IP. It worked. I also managed to access it through my internet IP, but this was all on the same PC!
Now I wasn't able to reach my pc at my work, but that might be b/c of the firewalls that are in place. But I'm not able to reach it at my girlfriend's place either.
I've tried:
http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080/
and https://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:9090/

I've been looking on these forums and google all day, but I haven't found the right answer yet. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance and greetings from Holland.

What did you use as host address for SABnzbd? Was it "localhost"?
That won't route outside.
Use 0.0.0.0 instead.
When connecting without a router to Internet, make sure you have a capable software firewall.
You also need to tell the firewall to let SABnzbd through.
Also, set a username/password for SABnzbd, otherwise anyone can access its UI.

I done all of the above.. well about the IP I'm not sure, so I'll check that out when I get back home tomorrow.
What does having a capable software firewall mean exactly?

Thanks for your quick reply and help =)
