Error 5: repair failed, retry not possible

Postby Perseus » March 30th, 2012, 5:17 am

I've downloaded 24 GB. The download itself was completed, but after it my disk was full.
Some of the files had to be repaired.
Sabnzbd could not dowload additional data, because of the full disk.

It stopped with "Repair failed. [Error 5] Access is denied"

I can see no way, how to restart the repair-process.
How can I finish the download? :-[

Don't you have an entry in History, with a retry link?

Remove the history entry without removing the files.
Then go to Status->queueRepair.
The item should be listed as a orphaned job and from there you can send
it back to the queue.

ok, it was extracted
but the repair process did not happen ("no par2 sets")

so the extracted files have to be damaged and are useless?
is repairing still possible?

you say "the files were extracted". Isn't that what you were after?
Did the extraction give new errors?

Can you collect the log files and email them to bugs@sabnzbd.org ?
(Please zip all files in the c:\users\USER\Appdata\local\sabnzbd\logs folder).
I have no idea what's going on here.

Are your "temporary download folder" and your "Completed Download Folder" identical?
They should not be.
I'm still puzzling about what happened, because the logging is bizarre.
It would help me if you emailed your sabnzbd.ini file too.
Make sure you remove any usernames/passwords from the copy first!
The file can be edited with Notepad.

The way you setup the folders is the worst way to do it.
It's not your fault, SABnzbd should be checking this (and in the next release it will).
The problem is that SABnzbd considers the "incomplete" folder as its own territory.
In repair situations it may start doing nasty things to sub folders in "incomplete".
If you insist on combining both main folders, set "incomplete" to be a subfolder of "complete",
definitely not the other way around.

Of course, there's some kind of bug in SABnzbd causing the specific behaviour that you saw,
but the way your folders are set up will aggravate the consequences.
I'm sorry it cost you the 28G, the combination of factors led to your bad luck in this case.
Thanks for reporting it, so I can fix it in the next release.

ok, or maybe two parallel subfolders like in the default settings
i think if there were enough space for downloading the repair data, it would have been no problem.
earlier downloads worked quite well

thank you for your help

Yes, it will work in the original setup, but the chance of problems in "special" situations is bigger.
At the least the next release will prevent this specific setup,
but I will also dig in a bit deeper to see why things turned out so bad.
