Not working after upgrade

Postby chewiesw » April 24th, 2012, 4:12 am

Hello

I am a noob here although I have had sabnzbd and sick beard working for a couple of months, that was until I upgraded a few days ago to 0.7.0 beta 3. Ina nuts hell what happens is that sabnzbd doesn't download anything after the 1st 12 -20 MB after that the download will seem to complete after a hour or so but the will not unpack due to missing pars ( everything is missing)

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall with no luck , I have also found and tried to install a older version the same problems.

mythbuntu 11.04 0.24 fixes

What do I needt do to get it working again?

Does this happen to all downloads?

Can you get this .NZB and download it with SABnzbd?

I think you did something else than what I meant:

Open your webbrowser (Chrome, FF, IE)
Go to the binsearch URL I posted
click the checkbox, then "Download NZB". It should download a file of max 1 MB to your download folder
then go to the SAB webinterface, "Add NZB", and upload that file .NZB

What happens?

90 kbps? Or 90 kB/s (which is about 900 kbps, a normal speed for a basic 1 Mbps DSL line)?

Anyway: you could if another newsgroup download program is faster than the 2 kb/s:

Linux: nzbget (a bit difficult to configure), NTTPgrab
Windows: UNZbin, or Grabit

I mean't 90kb/s ( 1mb line) , I have spent the last three + hours trying to download a brand new episode and have only downloaded 133mb. Thing is I have a Windows 7 VM set up to use sabnzbd/sick beard using the same news serves etc and it work perfectly.
which leads me to believe it is something to do with my Ubuntu setup

The Windows SABnzbd setup is working fast on the same DSL connection?

If so, I would do this:

Stop SABnzbd
move / rename ~/.sabnzbd/sabnzbd.ini to something else
Start SABnzbd: it should give the wizard. Fill it out
Try a NZB download with the fresh setup

Followed your advice and renamed the sabnzbd.ini file and went through the set up again. Same problem.. downloads at full speed for 2Mb then just stops. I have attached my ini file (just removed the API key)

EDIT: see my newer post first

Wow, that's a big ini. Did you set that up all again?

Anyway ... do you want to check with another nzb-downloader to see whether that slows down too? If it does, it has nothing to do with SAB, but your newsserver being slow, or with your ISP throttling newsgroup traffic, or your local LAN.

If so: mythbuntu can use Ubuntu PPA's, right? Can you then do this:

Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openftd/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install nntpgrab

Then type

Code: Select all
nntpgrab_gui

In the popup-window, select "Start standalone" in the right bottom corner. Fill out your newsserver, and do a big download. What is the speed?

Maybe first an easier test:

Go to http://test-ipv6.com/ and check what it says about your IPv6. I guess a 0/10 score. If so, do "sudo apt-get install miredo". Then go to http://test-ipv6.com/ again: better score?

If so, add two free IPv6-only newsservers to SABnzbd:
newszilla6.xs4all.nl (6 connections)
weathergirl-ipv6.tele2.net (6 connections)

Then do a new download of a recent post (max 10 days old) ... what's the speed?

Sander, thanks for all your help. I think I can conclusively say V7 Beta 3 does not work on my system. I have total removed all traces of SABNZBD from my media centre and then re-installed it with exactly the same error. I then removed everything again and installed version 6.5 which works. However i am not sure if i installed it correctly as it doesn't seem to auto start after a reboot. I also don't "see it" in my menu. If I look in my init.d there is no SABNZBD script, what script can I use for 6.5?
