I'd be curious to know if anyone else sees same behaviour?
reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl works only sporadically and when it does it is quite slow as you mentioned.

Re: Free Newsservers

XS News often doesn't work for me, even when the status page says it's up. I always see this error: reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119: Failed to connect: (10060, "(10060, 'Operation timed out')") 1@reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119 XS News exposes odd behaviour at times. This is what python's socket.geta...

Re: Free Newsservers

Anyone else having trouble with news.ipv6.eweka.nl? i can't connect for allmost 2 weeks now, really frustrating :\ Yes, it's been down for me for the last month or so. As of Jan 29 2010 eweka's (free) ipv6 access to their newsservers has been discontinued. See: http://www.eweka.nl/phpbb/viewtopic.p...

Re: Hangs with multiple servers

Since you're already using non-blocking sockets, you'd have to implement some sort of select() handling that identifies whether the socket in question will be readable on the next recv() given a certain amount of timeout.

I agree, this can be tedious.

Hangs with multiple servers

I've configured three news-servers and all works well until one of them becomes unresponsive. Then sabnzbd+ is not able to use the remaining two servers, it justs sits there presumably waiting for a timeout. However it never recovers. Something with the server-connection / timeout handling seems to ...
