Unfortunately I don't know what I may have done to get it working. Once I downgraded sab to 7.16 and then reinstalled 7.17 and manually cleaned up the pid's it seemed to just work.

I know I did not downgrade (I did temporarily attempt to downgrade sabnzbd back to 0.7.16 but it didn't resolve the issue so I upgraded it again). Once I upgraded again, I had to cleanup old stale pid files due the pid file changes to this version and I THINK I reinstalled openssl but not py-openssl...

I've got a similar issue as the poster a little while back where the service won't start. I just upgraded to 0.7.17 on FreeBSD 10 and now I get the following error on startup. I've tried recompiling sabnzbd and reinstalling as well as python27 but it seems like its something else... Starting sabnzb...

Hmm, ok. I'm not sure what to try for troubleshooting then to try to figure out what the delay is... Anyone have any ideas?

Was there any results to this other than avoiding NFS and to use CIFS/SMB? I really would rather not use CIFS/SMB if at all possible. I have an installation using SAB that has all of its folders (except admin) stored over an NFS share and I can reproduce this every time. The machine with SAB is a VM...
