Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Well as I mentioned, Direct Unpack is not a must-have for me. It's nice to get a completed unpack almost immediately after the download is finished, but I'm fine with waiting to unpack serially after the download. It's generally not adding more than a minute or two to the whole process anyway. And i...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Just tried your test NZB. It completed a my_1GB.bin file of 1,048,576,000 bytes containing all 0 (null) bytes. No reported errors, although it did hitch and redownload the last few percent before going into repair mode. But no hung unrar process left behind. Will try the new directunpacker.py now wi...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Sorry, yes I'm here. Just really busy the past couple days and returned to work today from an extended 2.5 week holiday vacation, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. :) I think you all have it correct. To recap: Regular unpack works fine with NAS Manual unrar using same cmdline as SAB works fine...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Thanks, and Happy New Year to you too! First, since I have Debug logging enabled and DirectUnpack disabled, I attempted the problematic download (checksum error) again, watching SAB's behavior closely. After 100% download, it very quickly jumped down to History, then before I could see a status, it ...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
If it's the interactive-mode, maybe you can try this version? Change-set: https://github.com/sabnzbd/sabnzbd/commit/18093d6a3687b6a0573aa794871c205a7a549855 File: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sabnzbd/sabnzbd/18093d6a3687b6a0573aa794871c205a7a549855/sabnzbd/directunpacker.py I applied those cha...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Happened again with another download. :( This one was slightly different. 90 volumes to unpack, and when I run unrar t against the incomplete files, they all check out with no errors. I did not have debug enabled this time, but I'm going to leave it enabled for awhile from now on since this is happe...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Yes the files are still in the incomplete folder. By running unrar t to test the archives, it starts reporting checksum error when it gets to the 38th module. I've copied the latter part of the unrar test results below. Testing archive <download>.part34.rar ... <path>/VIDEO_TS/VTS_17_1.VOB OK Testin...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Here we go. Reproduced the issue with the download I had emailed about. Here's the new log entry: 2018-12-29 16:05:40,896::INFO::[directunpacker:184] Error in DirectUnpack of <download>: <path>/VIDEO_TS/VTS_19_1.VOB - checksum error So now we at least know it's a checksum error in a specific file. B...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
I can add it. But I'd suggest adding it after the conditional that finds the error. In fact I'd add it to the existing logging line, like so: logging.info('Error in DirectUnpack of %s: %s', self.cur_setname, linebuf) That way it's only logging linebuf when the error occurs, and not on every characte...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Incomplete downloads stored on local HDD Complete downloads stored on QNAP TS-851 NAS mounted via Samba What if you put Complete download on the local HDD too? (And move the downloads afterwards manually) Yeah, that's what I proposed to do if this behavior keeps occurring. So far it seems to have b...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
I replied in the email, but will copy here for full disclosure. I can try with a local completion folder. I'm not running load balanced -- if you're referring to the multiple host names, those are just various DNS names for the same server. I've been reworking my internal+external DNS hostnames to g...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
When the parent dies, zombies revert to PID #1 (init). Killing init then kills your entire session. So you may as well reboot.

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
Ok, I think this issue is different than my original one. This one looks like maybe a bad NZB/archive, but also related to Direct Unpack not handling things well. The logs show a DirectUnpack error at volume 39 of 49, but nothing is reported in the UI, it just freezes at 100% and 38/49 showing next ...

Re: Frequent hangs at Quick Repair, and zombie unrar processes
I'm working on gathering logs. Behavior is even worse now than before the update. Now one download might work, then the next just hangs at 100% progress bar and never moves into the history queue. Again, restarting the SAB service does not terminate child unrar processes, which can only be cleared u...
