ok that strange, you have no soft running on port 8080, and when you start SABnzbd you have the error message ?
Could you please send me your sabnzbd.ini file by pm ?

Could you please send me your sabnzbd.ini file ? (in ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd folder)

The command is to see if another program is running on port 8080...
Try to launch the command in terminal to see the result (the command may take several seconds to complete)

There is a big difference between 0.4x and 0.5x. in 0.4.x settings were stored in ~/.sabnzbd in 0.5.x settings are now stored in ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd Settings are copied on first run but not deleted. While hibernating, I don't think SABnzbd can check RSS.
You could set your mac to wake up at given hours and put on queue finish action to sleep computer...
