well, i actually figured it out i think.

it seems as though during the upgrade, it reset my sorting options for tv sorting. it reset the affected folders to all i guess. i clicked on TV and it now sorts properly

not a big bug i guess.

EDIT: that wasn't so bad. FileBoss for windows was able to do it after running it a few times

nevermind. --with-recommends seemed to update it.
