Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
You're the first to get better results with python 2.6, certain functions in 0.4.x are supposed to not work with that (shutdown, scheduling, ...). Unfortunately I can't do any real testing at the moment since I haven't upgraded to jaunty yet. Probably best to wait and see if anybody else notices sim...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
That's a bug in the 0.4.9 release, see here.

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
Took me a few minutes to figure out how to only get the one (hopefully correct) pid, but here you go... please test by replacing /etc/init.d/sabnzbdplus with the attached file (don't forget to make it executable) and report back.

Re: Hmmm a big headache
With multiple upstream connections, you can control which connection is used to reach a certain server by setting the appropriate routes on the operating system level. On Linux, an example command would be route add -host news.provider.com gw 192.168.0.1 dev eth1 ; this would cause connections to &q...

Re: downloads stay in tempfolder
Current sabnzbdplus packages for jaunty use ONLY python 2.5 (in both ppa and ubuntu repositories), regardless of what other python version might be installed, and regardless of what /usr/bin/python is made to point to. You can easily recognize this from the very first line of /usr/bin/sabnzbdplus. T...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
Is there any chance you could create a unofficial debian repository for some of us other poor sap whos skills compiling from source is not that great. Too much work, I'm not a debian user and there's no convenient launchpad ppa style "upload a source package and we'll take care of building and...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
The version in ubuntu's repositories hasn't been updated at all yet; as you can see it's still the initial package uploaded prior to the python 2.6 changeover. Some issues had to be sorted out first, the results of that have just been uploaded as the 4th revision of 0.4.7 for jaunty on the PPA, it's...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
Sorry for a beginners question but how do I upgrade only SABnzbd and not my whole system? [...]And all seems working fine but I got 50Mb of all kinds of libs and to me seemingly irrelevant things upgraded. Probably doable by not using 'apt-get upgrade', but instead just 'apt-get install '. Not reco...

Re: Experience with SABnzbd on Python 2.6
Nice to have a way to keep up with progress as it's made. Noticed the infinite wait on shutdown myself as well when using 2.6 in an emulated jaunty install, good to know it wasn't just general slowness associated with such a setup .

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
Python-yenc update probably hasn't made it to the archives yet, expect it within 24 hours. It's faster than having hte same functionality as pure python code, but sabnzbd if necessary can live without it; that's why it is recommended and not a hard depend in the first place. That "DeprecationWa...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
Exactly, these contains "extensions", c-code that must be compiled against the specific python install on a system. Brute-forcing the cheetah and yenc installs will never work with python 2.6 for that reason, these packages were built before that was available and therefore simply cannot s...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
I would like to hear advice from others: is it clever to file a bug related to python-cheetah and python-yenc (not sabnzbd which is probably too remote)? Worst case, the bug reports get closed as invalid. Probably best to create separate ones for each affected package. Anyway, just uploaded a new r...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
JCFP, is it possible to force a shutdown of SABnzbd before upgrading it? We do that in the Windows installer. Shutting something down is never a problem if you can run scripts as root 8). In fact, for users of the init script (re)starting it after a package upgrade could also be done automatically....
