Re: licensing stuff: GPL "version 2" vs. "2 or later"
In my opinion, the SMPL skin is not a "Derivative Work" of excanvas.js, since we have it in its original separate file, so the term "remain separable from" is valid. There are no "editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications" at all. I agree, ...

Re: licensing stuff: GPL "version 2" vs. "2 or later"
Reading the GPL, version 2, section 2 you find the following: These requirements apply to the modified work as a whole. If identifiable sections of that work are not derived from the Program, and can be reasonably considered independent and separate works in themselves, then this License, and its t...

Re: licensing stuff: GPL "version 2" vs. "2 or later"
With 0.4.2 sabnzbd's license has changed to GPL "v2 only" from "v2 or any later version", forcing me to look into this stuff once more. Unfortunately this license change seems to cause a conflict with interfaces/smpl/templates/static/excanvas/excanvas.js which is subject to the A...

Re: Free Newsservers
More free (IPv6-only) binary newsservers: news.ipv6.eweka.nl Retention 120 days. Unlimited speed. reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl Retention: around 100 days too, speed unknown. Thanks, just what I need now that my provider has discontinued binary news services 8). The eweka one works very nice, I can't but w...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
I'm back from my summer vacation, so 0.4.2 is finally being packaged. Changes in this version: Include statements in the default interface templates were fixed so the package design is back to normal. Optimized byte-compiled files (*.pyo) are now created on install for the default python version. No...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
McM, just did some redesigning in the package and will upload the result in a few minutes. Please try that first, your problem might just be gone.

Re: templete inconsistency in 0.4.0
Failing that, I can try /usr/local/share/ for the full install and sym-linking, but if that doesn't work, I'll be stuck patching the source to make it work. Obviously jcfp's latest post before this one should be considered too, maybe in combination with setup.py On second thought, disregard my su...

Re: templete inconsistency in 0.4.0
I did not ask to put the whole sabnzbd structure in /usr/bin. If I look at how other packages are installed (like Webmin and Python), I'd say put the folder structure in /usr/share or another appropriate location and just provide a symlink to the one executable file SABnzbnd.py. So the only thing i...

Re: (Unofficial) Ubuntu repository for SABnzbd+
after doing an upgrade to 0.4.0 i get this in my cherrypy.log .. :'( This looks very much like an error that I had taken care of. Anyway, please send the following to me by e-mail (linux@jp.pp.ru): output of: lsb_release -a output of: apt-cache policy sabnzbdplus output of: apt-cache madison sabnz...

Re: templete inconsistency in 0.4.0
And that's what I object too, the design does not support it. Also, you cannot just combine arbitrary versions of the Python code and the skins. There's no separation of the two through a well-defined and stable API. Maybe one day, but not now. One thing at a time pls. The interfaces being installe...

Re: templete inconsistency in 0.4.0
Shypike, putting files in various locations according to their function is the common way of doing things on linux & unix. Having a package create /usr/bin/interfaces/etc... would be considered very bad manners if not outright unacceptable. Anyway, I myself also ran into this small inconvenience...

licensing stuff: GPL "version 2" vs. "2 or later"
Just noticed that in COPYRIGHT.txt and at the top of LICENSE.txt it is claimed that sabnzbd+ is under GPL version 2 (only), while all the headers in the *.py files say "v2 or later". The latter (v2 or later) seems to be intended, and is imho strongly preferred or even necessary for reasons...
