Wait-a-minute. Are you telling me that you get up to 70Mbit/s from xsnews through Freenet6? 70Mbit/s as in ~8.75MBytes/s? The most I could pull from xsnews through Freenet6 so far was 4,8Mbit/s, or ~600KBytes/s. When I change to SixXS i tend to get better, around 8000Mbit/s which is roughly 1MByte/...

I only use Freenet6 client and the speed depends on hour of the day namely how busy is xsnews server . In the morning i get 70-80 mbits with ease and does peak to 90-100 mbits ( my max line speed) , in the evening usually around 20 mbit something like 15-25mbit. This is ussing the Amsterdam gateway...

from my school, i can only connect via telnet on port 80.... 119 and 23 just hang.... You could try now for the past 2-3 days it's been working very well at least for me, but retention is 2-3 day max but curently spoilling i guess. Try to do a telnet test.news-service.com 119 and see if you get any response. Also the retention is quite low at this time 4-5 days max on some groups.
