External NZB Intergration not working - out of ideas

Post by Leithal »

Hello,

I'm running SABnzbd on my Windows 10 PC. The PC has a static IP on my local network - 192.168.1.50 and I have it reserved in my router by its MAC.
I show SABnzbd listening on port 8080 (netstat) on my PC's IP. (192.168.1.50 not localhost)
In my router I have Port forwarding set to my PC's IP for port 8080, same for both internal and external.
I'm running NoIP, but have tried specifying DNS and IP at my NZB site, along with the API key (tipple checked).

Stil, l when I click on the send to PC at the NZB siteit doesn't complete and I don't see activity in SABnzbd.

I've turned off my Firewall as a troubleshooting step with no difference. Nothing else is listening on 8080. I've rebooted, router, SABnzbd, PC, etc... Still no luck.

Any troubleshooting tips beyond what I've done so far would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Which version of SABnzbd do you use?

First things first: access from LAN. So, from another device on your LAN, can you access SAB via http://192.168.1.50:8080/ ?

Yep, not a problem... the web page came up fine. I should have thought of this :)

So then I fired up a VPN client, and now I'm coming in on my public IP from an external location - the page doesn't load. No dice. Page not available. Seems to indicate the port forward... Rules below...
# Service Name External Start Port Internal Start Port Internal IP address
1 Plex TV 32400 32400 192.168.1.50
2 SABnzbd control 8080 8080 192.168.1.50

I am a wired connection - double checked my assignment and connection.
3 Allowed 192.168.1.50 1C:6F:65:C6:E6:07 LEITHALPC

And doubleshecked my static mappings.
Address Reservation
# IP Address Device Name MAC Address
1 192.168.1.3 SDS1 00:11:32:40:20:DE
2 192.168.1.2 Cassone-PC 10:FE:ED:1F:12:0F
3 192.168.1.50 LEITHALDESKTOP 1C:6F:65:C6:E6:07
4 192.168.1.5 SDS2 00:11:32:40:20:DD

I'm running a Nighthawk R7000 with Firmware Version V1.0.5.48_1.1.79 It's the latest Firmware.

There might also be a firewall in your router.

Or ... double NAT (Nighthawk plus routermodem by ISP); do a traceroute / tracert 8.8.8.8 from your Windows PC and post the output here.

9 20 ms 20 ms 20 ms google-public-dns-a.google.com [8.8.8.8]

Trace complete.

Added 8080 to the Never Block on my Router... Never block 32400 was already there added 8080 just in case.

Services Blocking
Never

Service Table
# Service Type Port IP
1 SABNZBD 8080 192.168.1.50
2 lan2 32400 all
3 Lan1 5060 all

Also looked at blocked services, set to Never.

I do some blocking, but through DNS with open DNS. not on the router.

Tried again via VPN and still no access yo SABNZBD.

Thanks for all the help... I was at the end of my rope :)

You have two NAT devices (192. and 10.), plus Carrier Grade NAT (100.127.2.152). That means you probably can't do port forwarding.

Possible solution: IPv6. A fixed ISP doing carrier grade NAT should also provide IPv6. But: not easy if you use your own router(s), and maybe not compatible with the NZB pushing site.

Thanks, they must have changed something, somewhere - it used to work not too long ago... Frustrating when things work, then stop. Hard to test every function after every change without a QA department :)

Thanks again for all the assistance!

So... my Plex stoped responding as well... I'm thinking the Router is the issues.

Just for Giggles... I... deleted my Plex and SABnzbd port forwarding rules...

Added back Plex and it connects...

Added back SAB and now I can get access from my other VPN'd system...

And... Clicking on the NZB Icon now works...

I can't believe how long I've been working on this...

Thought you would want to know the final solution... this will be the first thing I try next time this happens. And I've added your steps to my mental handbook as well...

Thanks again for all the help!

Good to hear, but I don't understand how that is possible. Unless:
* the carrier grade NAT does a 1-on-1 IPv4-IPv4-mapping (which would defeat the objective of carrier grade NAT,
AND
* you have directed all traffic on your ISPs router towards your Netgeat Nighthawk

I don't' know. I also don't understand why the rules showed correctly, but didn't really seem to be working. And frankly I have no idea why on a whim I tried to reinput them. My son hasn't complained so either his port forwards are still working correctly, or he isn't playing those games :)

I don't know if you know anything about the specific ISP's - I'm on Cox in Las Vegas. Thinking about this - I'm not using the Cox equipment - I purchased my own Cable Modem, and all the traffic goes from it to my Nighthawk. Of course I bought the Aeeis, which apparently has some security issues according to a recent SecurityNow podcast. Oh well. Hopefully this helps with understanding my setup - it's sounding partly what you describe.

Again - thank you very much!
