Speed on Qnap NAS

Post by evalf »

Hi everyone!

I am at the present considering the purchase of a nas (Qnap TS-109 II). One of the reasons is that I have read reports of people successfully installing SABnzbd+ on these devices, and I'd really like to have my own "download station".

One of the things I'd like to make sure, though,  is that the performances of SABnzbd+ on these devices is not too bad. Currently, running SABnzbd+ on my laptop (1.86GHz Centrino CPU, 1GB RAM), I get an average download speed of 2000kB/s, and unpacking takes about 3min/GB. I'm really curious about the performances I would get with a machine equipped with a 500MHz CPU and 256MB RAM.

Unfortunately the only reports about speed I have found so far were from people whose limit was the download speed itself, and managed to get about 400kB/s. I know that having 5 times this speed can be an enormous strain on the system, so I'm very curious to know if somebody has experienced running SABnzbd+ on a NAS and a high-speed connection, and what kind of results they got.

Thanks a lot for your replies!
