All, just reporting that I changed the ppa to the normal one (which can include betas).
The system upgraded to 3.0.0 beta2 (Ubuntu 20.04) and everything is now working as it did.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.

I joined just now to share I had the exact same issues posted here.
I upgraded recently to Ubuntu 20.04 from 18.04 and I also reinstalled sabszbd and all looked well until I added a nzb and it just sat there.
100MB test download did the same thing, logs showed nothing, all tests passed.
after much hair pulling I found this thread and changed my ppa from nobeta to beta, installed the newer version and bingo all is working again.
this should be a sticky.
