varying speed

Post by Ruben2 »

Hi there,

since a few months I have high speed fiberglass internet that works fine. My usenet provider is Eweka. In SABnzbd my download speed varies extremely. From a few KB/s to normal, which is about 25 MB/s. Usually the speed is way too low. I use Linux Mint, latest version and my version of SABnzbd is the latest too.
In other download progs (bleeh) the speed is normal and uninterrupted. What can be the cause?
Thank you for helping

While SABnzbd is completely idle: In SABnzbd's upper right corner, click on the wrench symbol ("Status and interface options"), then click on first tab Status, and therev click on the Refresh Arrow. Post the outpur here, like:

System performance (Pystone) 95494 Intel(R) Celeron(R) J4105…
Download folder speed 12.6 MB/s (/media/zeegat/incomplete)
Complete folder speed 26.1 MB/s (/media/zeegat)
Internet Bandwidth 57.1 MB/s (456.8 Mbps)

CPU: very fast. Good.

Disks: slow. Solution/workaround: use internal disk, and then try a reference download like this:

In SABnzbd's upper right corner, click on the wrench symbol ("Status and interface options"), then click on first tab Status, and there click on "Test download" 1GB or 10GB. ... what speed do you get?

Internet bandwidth: 23 MB/s. Looks OK (assuming you have a 200 Mbps contract with your ISP)

All correct what you say but there is one thing: I use NeswLazer too (which I hate btw) on the same disk and THAT download speed is high and constantly the same. SABnzbd's speed is sometimes ok and sometimes looks like a sawtooth generator (zaagtandgenerator). That doesn'nt make sense to me.
