Sites Security Certificate Not Trusted!

Post by Vectraat »

Hi all, new here.

Was just trying to install SABnzbd to check it out and on the last step - Step 4 of the SABnzbd Quick-Start Wizard I get this message via Google Chrome -

"The site's security certificate is not trusted!
You attempted to reach localhost, but the server presented a certificate issued by an entity that is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may mean that the server has generated its own security credentials, which Google Chrome cannot rely on for identity information, or an attacker may be trying to intercept your communications.
You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site."

So what's up with that?

This may mean that the server has generated its own security credentials,
This means you have enabled SSL for your SAB and the certificate you are using isn't validated by any Certificate Authority. If you are accessing SAB from LAN there is nothing to worry about.

I'm accessing SAB from Wi-Fi.
Is it ok for me to complete Step 4 via Wi-Fi and just hit "Proceed anyway" when Google Chrome prompts me with the "Security certificate not trusted" ?

Or should I just re-do the install and disable SSL - Install it then enable SSL after It's set-up?

For use within a local home network, using https is not very useful.
It's only important if you need external access (from internet).

Ok, so I'm confused now...

Should I re-do it and disable HTTPS? Or should I just proceed via Wi-Fi on Step 4 even with the "Security Certificate Not Trusted" prompt?

You can ignore the warning and afterwards disable https
In Config->general.
