Connection Failed

Post by hamby86 »

I recently moved and I am now on a network and now sabnzbd will no longer work

This is the error

news.astraweb.com:119: Failed to connect: (60, '[Errno 61] Connection refused') [email protected]:119

Any ideas on how to remedy the situation?

Check your sever settings. Go to Config->Server check your username/password, port settings, ssl options.

You appear to be posting from a us-based educational institution of a type where the local network admins may not exactly be very fond of usenet binaries. Consider trying with ssl on port 443 or you may have to go with some vpn service for your download needs.

Which SABnzbd version are you using?
If not 0.7.3, make sure "random_server_ip" is off in Config->Servers
Upgrade to 0.7.3, if you're not using it already.

I am running 0.7.3
I went to change the port to 443 but got an error so I changed it back to 8080
Here is the error:
SABnzbd needs a free tcp/ip port for its internal web server.
Port 443 on 127.0.0.1 was tried , but the account used for SABnzbd has no permission to use it.
On OSX and Linux systems, normal users must use ports above 1023.

Please restart SABnzbd with a different port number.

Open a Terminal window and type the line (example):
/Applications/SABnzbd.app/Contents/MacOS/SABnzbd --server 127.0.0.1:1024

If you get this error message again, please try a different number.

Program did not start

You're mixing things up.
In Config->General you set the port number of SABnzbd's internal webserver. Leave that alone.
In Config->Servers you set the port number of your Usenet provider's server. That's where you set alternate ports.
The two have no relationship at all.

If you pick 443 or 563 for the Usenet server, don't forget to check the SSL box too.

Even so, it might still be the case that your network operator doesn't want you to do Usenet.

I think that might be the case because nothing is working everything is still in the incomplete folder. I am here until May....I have to figure out a work around. If I am able to use their internet and go through my own router would that change anything?

I don't now how to bypass your network operator, but your router isn't going to do it.
BTW: astraweb also requires a different server address when you want to use ssl.
See their support pages.

Seems to be working with the SSL address and port 443. Only 700kb/sec though...better than nothing. When I lived in Japan I was so spoiled by the blazing speeds!
