missing articles

Post by wintistyle »

ok..here's what i'm using:

Version: (Ex: 0.7.20)
OS: (Ex: Windows Vista)
Install-type: (Ex: Windows Installer)
Skin (if applicable): (Ex: Default)
Firewall Software: (Ex: None, or whatever Vista has for an excuse for a firewall built-in)
Are you using IPV6? (no)
Is the issue reproducible? (yes...sadly)

ok...first, i'm new to this and i know i will get on the nerves of numerous people with this but i try to catch up...this is my first week in the vast world of usenet and i'm still trying to wrap my head around it...

i use sabnzbd (0.7.20) with oznzb as an indexer and pureusenet.nl as a provider (1100 days retention).

I already successfully downloaded several things but now i have a certain item i want and even though i tried several versions of it i can't get the download to work. It always comes back with 201 articles missing (all of them i guess) the file itself is 93 days old. I've already tried three versions of the same file.
Can anyone point me in the direction of what i may be doing wrong?

thx

i don't think so...

the post is not available (anymore) on the newsserver you use because the post is older than the newsserver retention
nope, the retention is 1100 days...the post is from 90 days ago

the post is not available (anymore) on the newsserver you use because the post has been (partly) removed (possibly because of DMCA notices)
dutch servers are not subject to dmca notices as far as i know

the post itself has too little repair block (par files)
it has no blocks at all...

It's DMCA, or the Dutch equivalent. All Usenet servers have some sort of similar policy. You need a block account to fill in the missing pieces, and you really need to try and automate so that stuff is downloaded right after posting.

Unfortunately al new shows get taken down within hours.. Almost all 'Dutch' news group companies are not really Dutch, eweka is also owned by an American company that owns many of the brands all over the world (Highwinds).
So 1 DCMA request to Highwinds will remove the post from all their brands..

Here's a list of 2 years old who owns what :
http://www.newsgroupservers.net/newsgro ... _resellers

So to summarize.. It was deleted by DCMA request!
If you want everything to download you will probably need 2 servers.. I personally have Eweka and Astraweb, that combo usually gets most of the shows and movies. But you need to get them very soon after posting.. That's why people use indexing sites and automatic downloaders such as Sickbeard!

safihre's recommendation of Astraweb as a backup block account is a good one. Be sure to use both their US and EU servers as they have different takedown policies.
