Stuck waiting

Post by macsusenet »

Hey again, another noob question but im stuck with another issue now. Appreciate any help.

Most things are downloading fine now, however I get files that fail, and it says verifying 61/61 for example and repair failed,

But now EVERY SINGLE FILE in my downloads list is stuck waiting and the while que fails... I have 20 errors saying import failed or something and I dont see why all this happens now but it was fine yesterday?

Any help appreciated,

What platform are you on? Linux?
Are you on 1.1.1RC3 or which version of SABnzbd?
Do you have set any parameters for par2 in Config->Switches?

I just dont know whats going on, its like just now, downloaded a file, it seemed to download fine then just disappeared, not in my downloads, no errors, it just vanished and is stuck in the temp folder, then the download after it is saying 7000 days to complete.... I just dont see why it works fine a few days ago and then suddenly everythings broken.... its so frustrating

Since we are now on version 1.1.0 you can imagine that we would first ask you to upgrade before we can help you further. That version is years old..
The 7000 days one seems to be a simple case of DCMA takedown. On new versions you can set sabnzbd to abort jobs that can't be completed.

Oh wow I am such an idiot xD

This new up to date version is 10x better! Just one thing i dont quite get, my internet download speed is about 35mb/s-40mb/s however the maximum download speed I can hit is 4mb/s, In settings it says When your ISP speed is 10 Mbits/sec, enter here 1M so I assume I set the value to 4M? But I cant get it to download any faster? My CPU is perfectly fine barely going over 15% load and I set 1G of Cashe.

Is this the fastest im going to get? Its not a problem as its still relatively fast however its always nice to know if I could be getting even better!

I appreciate the help and can see a HUGE difference after updating!

So what is your speed when you download, for example, a file in a browser? Really 35MB/s?
Because indeed providers use terms like "100MBit" (like a LAN cable) which means 10MB/s.

But simpele solution is just to try: what happens when you fill (just as a test) 100M in the Max line speed? How fast will it go?

Yeah when running download speed tests im easily hitting 35mbps and thats when using my VPN. Hense why I cant work out the reason for such slow speeds,

Oh and also I just tried 100M and it still maxes out at 4mb/s, its odd. I had 20 connections to giganews and it said I had to many so I reduced it to 5 but had half the download speed after doing so and anything above 10 connections gets me 4mb/s,

Any other suggestions?

35mb/s is indeed 4MB/s, so you are getting what you paid for ;)

Because speedtests like http://speedtest.net/ display the results in Mbits. To go from MBits to actual MB/s you need to divide by 8 (Bits to Bytes).
Since 35/8 = 4.3MB/s it seems to match what you describe..

Oh right well thanks for clearing that up, it just seems odd as they are displayed exactly the same everywhere I check (Internet provider, speed checkers, VPN usuage checker) so its just odd that everywhere else uses one form and its displayed as different on SABnzbd, especially when they both have the same MB/s suffix, but I appreciate you clearing that up!

SAB uses the format of how data on the disk is represented and how operating systems define it, for example when you see that a file on the disk is 10MB in size it would take 10 seconds to download with 1 MB/s.
But for advertising reasons, for providers it sounds better to sell 8Mbit, even though you can only transfer 1MB per second of real file.
Confusion brought by providers advertising..
