Download speed

Post by jwolde001 »

Hi,

To improve my dowload speed (old speed was 0,5 MB/s), I recently changed from wireless to an powerline adapter, which is connected to my pc (windows 10, i7 processor) via cable. The speedtest says my download speed is 60mbs, which should be around 7,5 Mb/s. I'm however downloading (via Supernews) with 1,5-2,2 Mb/s.

This is much better than before, but still not the speed I'm looking for. Any idea what is going on?

Thanks!

It was 20, I now changed it to 30, speed went up to 2,2-2,5 MB/s. I also tried 50 connections, but this provides error messages I have too many connections.

Can only try the speedtest for that. Can't download on my work laptop and can't move my pc downstairs. The speedtest gives 80mbs when cable to cable. Can it be the supernews? Should I change my provider?

You could take a trial account with another provider to test.
Did you follow all the guidelines here? https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/advanced/highspeed-downloading

Although with an i7 this shouldn't be a problem..

Wow ... Did you tell Supernews this, and ask them for a response?

@jwolde001
Are you using Supernews European servers or the American ones?
The European ones should be faster.
