2.3.1 on Windows SSL error "SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG"

Post by BigMike »

Hi all. I have had sabnzbd running with no issues for about a month, and as soon as I got home today I saw nothing had downloaded. I brought up sabnzbd in firefox, I saw a previous days download queue complete and then it failed saying that it had lost connection to sabnzbd. I restarted the service and it came up with an SSL error. I tried going into the config and it kicks up an SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG. If I take the https off the line in config and try changing something and saving i I get a red Failed in the button. It doesn't matter what browser I try. i tried bringing it up with the backup ini. I have checked permissions on the program and data directories. I tried a complete removal, reboot and reinstall and after I choose English I get the SSL error. I have tried disabling antivirus. Nothing has worked and I would welcome any help anyone can offer. Her is the most recent log snippet.

Easy: Firefox gives that error if you try to connect with HTTPS to the HTTP port. So just use http://127.0.0.1:8080/
Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to 127.0.0.1:8080. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. Error code:
SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG
For reference: Chrome wil say:
This site can’t provide a secure connection

127.0.0.1 sent an invalid response.

Sander-
The lost connection error happens when I just use http. The ssl error happens when I implicitly open any page in the config screen on http and click anything else it goes to https by itself. It had been runnning fine for a month and I haven’t made any other changes to the system. Also that shouldn’t have any bearing on the red failed buttons when trying to change the config settings.

Sabnzbd doesn't have any automatic redirection to https. This sounds like a virusscanner maybe interfering?

There's no redirection, access to HTTP will show: "The client sent a plain HTTP request, but this server only speaks HTTPS on this port."
However sometimes the web browser gets confused when you switch between HTTP and HTTPS or vice versa.
In that case, clear the browser cache and try the right port (so HTTP or HTTPS, whichever you've actually set up).
