Downloading to external network drive

Post by Floep »

Hi all,

I'm trying to setup SAB to download to a hard disk i've added on my router, i changed the download directory to '/Volumes/volume9/Films/complete' ig this should work right?

Now when downloading, it start good but after like 25% (sometimes a bit later) the download speed drops down to 200/400kbs instead of 8mb (my internet is still fine tho, it's just this downloading).

Anyone know what's going wrong? Is it this low because i'm downloading it to a network drive?

Yes, probably.

SABnzbd can test the resulting disk speed for you: in the upper right corner of SAB, click on on the Wrench symbol. Then, in the resulting "Status and interface options", click on the Refresh symbol. What is the result of both disks?

BTW: nice nickname, Floep!

Thanks for the replay, i just had a few downloads where it was all going great, straight 8mb's downloads and working correct, now after 2 days it's going slow again.

This is the speed it's showing:

Incomplete speed: 0.8 mbs
Complete speed: 1.1mbs

Yes, that is a horrible speed. As reference:

HDDs achieve 50 MB/s
SSDs achieve 150 - 300 MB/s

So your NAS' 1 MB/s is the bottle neck for SAB. SAB can't solve that for you; only you can.
a hard disk i've added on my router,
That's not the best solution for a network-drive ... as you experience.

Haha i know, it was just a quick solution. I still had this thing here and was like lets try this out. I just wonder why it's working something and why its going slow later then. Or why it downloaded fast for a few days and then turning slow again
