Hi,

I just installed SAB 2.3.2. When I start the program I get the fatal error message:

„Cannot access the user profile
Please start with sabnzbd.ini file in another location“

I waited several minutes but the browser (FF 59) did not start to configure the program.

My system runs on Windows 10 Home Premium 64 bit.

What to do?

Please restart your computer first.
It seems something blocked the writing of the configuration file.
Maybe also try to disable your virusscanner before starting the installation.

Restarting the system and disableling the virusscanner did not help.

When I click on OK in the error window FF starts with a page and the information:

" SABnzbd.exe 2.3.2

SABnzbd detected a fatal error:
Cannot access the user profile.

Please start with sabnzbd.ini file in another location

Program did not start!"

For unknown reasons SABnzbd can sometimes not find the user profile.
Do you have "special" characters in your user-id?

The easiest work-around is to start SABnzbd like this:
"c:\program files (x86)\sabnzbd\sabnzbd.exe" -f c:\your\path\to\admin-folder
But you'll have to start it like this every time.

How can SAB find the userprofile if it has not been created before?

I did some more tests with the standalone version and found out some very strange things.
My standard folder for downloads is D:/Downloads. When I download the program to this folder and repack it with 7-Zip to the same folder everything is OK. When I click on portable.cmd the browser opens with the Quick Start Wizzard and I can configure the program.
Do I move the install zip to another subfolder repack it there and start the program the problems I stated before occur.

Maybe indeed you can try to start it from command line:
"c:\program files (x86)\sabnzbd\sabnzbd.exe" -l2

And post the output here?

Meanwhile I took the standalone version for Windows 64 bit. I downloaded it to D:/Downloads and extracted it to D:/Install. The folder "SABnzbd-2.3.2" was created. After clicking on "SABnzbd.exe" the same fatal error occured. Clicking on "portable.cmd" opened the configuration window in Firefox and let me run through the configuration process.
I created a shortcut for the "SABnzbd.exe" on the desktop. Clicking on it the known fatal error occured, even with the extension -l2. Clicking on "portable.cmd" or shortcut for it on the desktop opens SABnzbd in Firefox and everything is running well.

I guess the problem has something to do with the folder I downloaded the program first. As I stated before download to one folder, ectract it and install it there runs without any problems. When I move the downloaded install file to any other folder and install the program from there the problems start.

In my "sabnzbd.ini" are some lines which may point to the reason for the Problem:

"download_dir = D:\Downloads\SABnzbd-2.3.2\incomplete
size_limit = 0
enable_par_cleanup = 1
safe_postproc = 1
new_nzb_on_failure = 0
nzb_key = 3dc01f863cdab2cb377523d3ba464622
complete_dir = D:\Downloads\SABnzbd-2.3.2"

if i click on this command, nothing happens

Jeepee can you create a separate post for your problem and describe what you tried to get SABnzbd running and what errors you get?
