Sab stuck

Post by darksupernova »

Hello all,

Have tried searching for help but others problems don't appear similar.

I have check before download off. However Sab gets stuck on some downloads. Sometimes it gets stuck at the start (0%) earlier today it got stuck at 56%. The download speed falls to something like 50b/s (yes bytes per second) and it'll happily sit there for hours and hours until I get bored and manually remove the download. It won't report back to other apps that the downloads have failed. It used to show how many missing articles there were if i hover over it, but i get nothing for these ones.

Running on docker in synology Nas, log: https://pastebin.com/DNH7MzwS

Can you help?

Well, the logs you shared is very obvious about the answer: Connection closed by server.
So, something is wrong with the quality of your connection. Maybe check the whole path in your own network and maybe try 1 different provider, and then only use that one and not a number of providers to test.

@darksupernova Might I suggest you to remove the cipher setting ("RC4-MD5") from your newsserver settings AND lower the number of connections to 5, and then try again.

When I set that specific cipher, SAB says:

Code: Select all

Failed to initialize [email protected] with reason: ('No cipher can be selected.',)

Thank you for your help.

I will try all suggestions. I had the cipher settings on there following a sab guide on how to max out your internet speed. I have 1GBps but only seem to be hitting 25MB/s.

Sab only got stuck on a few NZBs not all but I'll try the above on those nzbs and let you know.

Thanks very much for your help :)

I've made the changes and loaded in some NZBs but I'm still getting the same problem:

I'll approach the server and ask them for support too.

There is also an option that this is a bug in SABnzbd.
Could you try this?
https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/faq#freshstart

And look for sabnzbdplus.error file if it maybe has more logging?

I would test connectivity, to find out if there is generic connectivity problem, or specific for de.newsgroupdirect.com.

So:

SAB -> Status (=wrench symbol): what do you see in the first four lines (public IPV4 address, DNS, etc)
SAB -> Config -> Server: click on "Test Server" for each server (as you have more than 1 defined) ... what do you get.

Hello,

Thank you for your replies.

I spoke to the newsgroup company and they said that I would likely see this behaviour as the articles I was trying to download have been removed by DMCA takedowns.

I've tried a fresh install and no luck, it still tries to download at a tiny speed (B/s). I've tested server connections all fine, nearly all NZBs work perfectly. Question is why Sab is not detecting that files have been removed and is instead reporting the server is terminating the connection?

I have found this behaviour on several downloads, all of which I suspect are missing files.

Any ideas?

If there are missing files, SAB will shows this. So if it is not showing them, it's not getting missing articles but something else is wrong.
newsgroup companies almost always will give this answer of DCMA.. :P

Try enabling +Debug again in the Status and Interface settings window again. Then let's check the logs again, because getting the "server reset connection" is a very different problem.

Thank you for your reply! Really appreciate you helping with this.

Please find a new paste: https://pastebin.com/WUMTHgM0

API key and public IP changed for security.

Seems like some missing articles and then the server closes the connection resulting in sab sitting there doing nothing. Not terminating it and not downloading... odd!

Ohhhhhh nowwww I see:
2019-02-19 08:35:43,774::DEBUG::[scheduler:166] Scheduling speedlimit([u'0']) on days [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] at 00:00

You have set a speedlimit of 0 at midnight but you never set it back to normal...

Thanks for getting back in touch and taking another look.

I thought this was disabling the speed limit:

Image

It's there just in case I forget to turn the speed limits off. I don't have the issue I'm experiencing with every NZB, its only been a few so far. I can have one downloading normally and then a dud, i'll pause that and the next downloads normally again. It's as if SAB is not recognising missing articles?

Aaah, yes, you are right. I misunderstood the Config file.

The problem is the connection to the Bulknews server, it keeps timing out. Try disabling it.

Did you really do the fresh-start with only 1 server?

I'm sorry I didn't realise I was supposed to do the fresh start with only one server.

It was quite a bit of work to set everything up again - will only adding one server make enough of a difference to justify the time? If yes, I'll crack straight on!

Yes, because it seems to be your connection to the server.
