Sab will not update localhost

Post by Baggs »

Hi
I need to change sab’s local host to it’s correct ip; 192.168.x.xxx.
But when I try, and sab does it’s restart, it returns to 0.0.0.0.

Please help

Sab is running on a QNAP TS-453
Version 2.3.9

Ps. I try to change localhost in the .ini file.
No luck.

Why do you want to change it to 192.168.x.xxx. ?

Oh, BTW: why are people secretive about their private IP addresses? Here's mine at this moment: 192.168.178.10

I'm quite sure that that is not true.

For pushing, you will need port forwarding, which is outside SAB, and which is for most users very hard to achieve.

So: send direct to SABnzbd is not preferred. Instead, use RSS pulling from you index site, which is easier to set up.

Can you please provide a link to (or copy-paste) this information?

I've never seen an indexer that required this before. I'm interested as to why they think your listening address should be changed. ???

0.0.0.0 does the exact same thing as setting the IP-address, it makes no difference. The code does the same thing, so the indexer website is wrong.

And he is right: to reach SABnzbd from the indexer website, you need to set up port forwarding. Otherwise your QNAP is not reachable from the outside.

So Sander's suggestion of using the "Cart RSS" feature that every indexer website has makes a lot of sense, it's much safer. By adding all this information in the indexer website, they (or anyone that hacks them) will have full access to your SABnzbd and can download stuff to your device. Why would you want that?
Using the RSS of the Cart on the Indexer and reading that into Config > RSS is 1.000.000x safer.
