I'm glad that you solved the prior Connection problem, hopefully, you can do the same for me. I get the Lost Connection: every few seconds and am unable to download anything including a test_download. I suspect that there is a problem with SABnzb working with my NAS drive (N:). I tried using that as my preferred download location and SABnzb has not been happy since. I have edited my .ini file to go back to a local location but that doesn't seem to work either.
I am running Windows 10 Pro ver 10.0.19042 Build 19042, SABnzb 3.1.1 on a Dell Latitude E6530, i7-3540M CPU, 2 cores, 4 logical processors.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

After "Lost Connection to SABnzb" .... does SABnzbd come back? Or is it gone forever (until you restart SABnzbd)?

It continues to come back and then drop off. Restarting has no effect, the same situation occurs. My guess is that I have something set wrong in the .ini file. I have searched the web but haven't found any silver bullet.

Can you first try to run it on your normal drive? Then you can also try to reset your settings:

I have read through the document and didn't see anything that was amiss or pertained to my situation. I have tried a new indexer and set the SABnzb.ini to download to my C; drive. I am able to download NZBs that SAB picks up and downloads the correct file - that download takes forever because of the constant Lost Connection... problem.

It happens to me if SAB is very busy. Or the connection to SAB is bad (which is unlikely if you run SAB on your PC)

It is still happening even late in the evening when I am not doing anything on the computer and SAB is idle. It just loses connection and then comes back.

Can you enable Debug logging and then after it happens again share the logs for that time?

In the Status and Interface settings window, the wrench icon 🛠. There is also the button Show Logging to download the logs after it happens again.
