"I run SABnzbd on WHS 2011 (Server 2008 R2). I really wish to stay with my current OS on the server.": Out of curiosity: why is that?
Well, for me, WHS2011 has everything I need, and is rock solid (not a single OS crash in 8 years). It, along with Stablebit drivepool & Scanner, FlexRAID and a host of other things, like autobackup of clients, running an FTP site, SABnzbd, etc, is pretty much set and forget. Just keeps humming along day after day. The security risks touted for using older operating systems are not a deal breaker for me. I know for some they are. If something works great for me, and does exactly what I need and want, and does it well, I stick with it. YMMV! (my phone is 6 years old too, love it!) That's why I am sticking with SABnzbd too!

Thanks for all the great info. I guess I will wait to do further upgrades until I either run into an issue, or there is some new feature I must have.
And thanks for all the hard work keeping SABnzbd going. Best out there IMO.

As mentioned by sanderjo, this legacy release will be around for a while so you can safely update :)
The 32bit won't matter.

Hey there,

when i initially downloaded the Windows Standalone (32bit and legacy)/SABnzbd-1.2.0, Windows essentials said it found a virus or was corrupt. have other users experienced this?

When installing this standalone, should I first 100% uninstall the previous Sab 3.1.1 via "programs and features" on Win 7 ?

cheers

No need to uninstall it fully, this way the shortcuts etc keep working. Just empty the SABnzbd folder in Program Files and put all the standalone files in there.

Ok, done, but how do I close the console DOS window without disabling SAB? I believe the last time this happened i was able to add a 'w' to a python executable. It would open it but not leave a DOS window open

Windows Essentials and Malwarebytes both seem to think that SABnzbd.exe and SABnzbd_console.exe are malware, and try to quarantine them. I never had the issue before w/ previous versions. Is this a known issue?

Maybe you can report them as false positive?
Nothing changed really.

MUHAHAHAHAHA and safihre, the virus issue initially resolved itself somehow, but now the Windows virus scan removed the SAB executable.
I redownload it and below is a screenshot of the virus warning.

Also, I cannot figure out how to keep SAB running without having the dos window remain open.

You can try uploading it to https://www.virustotal.com and https://virusscan.jotti.org/ if you're in doubt. I assume you downloaded it from the URL on this site?

Yes, DLed it from https://sabnzbd.org/downloads. I decided to whitelist the SAB-related "threats", and all good now. I had already deleted the "viruses" so nothing to upload, but would have otherwise if I had seen your reply first.

Very odd. Never seen that before.

Thank you all!

Yeah I marked them as false positive in the client so it doesn't prevent it from running (checked with the site you mentioned). It looks like they're being caught by a heuristic test, not a match of existing malware. I wonder if it has to do with the python binary?
