Download limit ignored when starting application

Post by HumanoidCylon »

Hello people!

In the settings I have set a download limit to 25MB/s under 'general >> tuning', however every time I restart the SABnzbd application, this limit is ignored and the application will start downloading at maximum speed (30MB/s).
Am I doing something wrong and just don't understand the option or is this a bug? I have no idea what is meant with "Maximum line speed".

- I use the latest stable version 3.2.0 [7be9281]
- I run on Windows 10 Pro

Thanks in advance.

At the first few seconds?

If so: that's fake ... AFAIK ... at download start, SABnzbd skips the par repair blocks, but counts them as downloaded ... giving an artificial high download speed.

As I'm not 100% sure, you can verify at Windows network level ... somewhere in Windows (control panel, monitoring?) you can see the real amount traffic over your network interface.

We are both talking about a different thing.

My situation:
As soon as I start the program and the download starts, SABnzbd starts downloading at full speed (30 MB/s), instead of the limit (25 MB/s) I set through the settings. I notice because for example streams begin to buffer instead of just continuing normally when i'm downloading at 25 MB/s. I need the 5 MB/s watch streams uninterrupted.

It's not just about the first few seconds. I'm talking about SABnzbd downloading at full speed when I set the limit to a max op 25 Mb/s, so it drains the entire bandwidth.

As you can see the download surpasses the 25 MB/s limit.

OK, but why then the title "Download limit ignored when starting application"?

Because the max limit of 25 MB/s setting is reset every time i (re)start the application.

I can slide the slider to the left so that the download speed is below the maximum, then I can slide the slider to the right again so that the 25 MB/s limit is set. After (re)starting I have to repeat these steps.

Do you mean: SAB is ignoring the 25 MB/s all the time, and downloading at 30 MB/s all (/most of) the time?

If so: can you do the 10GB test download (In SABnzbd's upper right corner, click on the wrench symbol ("Status and interface options"), then click on first tab Status, and there click on "Test download" 10GB.). Afterwards, what is the download speed reported (dropdown icon in History)

And same if you set download speeds to 90% (instead of 100%)?

On the Config General page, enable Advanced Settings, then make sure Percentage of line speed is set to 100.

This was a small bug, that this wasn't set by default to 100. Causing the behavior you are seeing of ignored limit when starting.
