@freds

Do you have a github account? If not, can you create one?

Reason: I can create a SABnzbd version with more logging for your case so that we can further analyse. Github will offer the Windows binary version, but you need a github account to download it.

... furthermore:

I checked your log file, and it's weird: your download is plainly put into \\?\z:\dls\nzb\Movies\ ... without own directory, like other downloads. That might be caused by using Categories or Sorting ... I'm a noob in that area.

BUT: looking at the log: which version of SABnzbd are you using? Please use SABnzbd 3.3.0 Beta2 (because it solves a bug with deobfuscate: https://github.com/sabnzbd/sabnzbd/comm ... eec3aad3a5 ), and try again.

I created a github account today.

"I checked your log file, and it's weird: your download is plainly put into \\?\z:\dls\nzb\Movies\ ... without own directory, like other downloads. That might be caused by using Categories or Sorting ... I'm a noob in that area."

That is correct. Everything gets dumped there. Before I move to my Media drive, I do some transcoding to the files.
I was using the latest release, but went to 3.3.0 beta 2 just now to test. I'll report back later after I see if it deobfuscates consistently.

I'm downloading 10 episodes of a series. The first 2 same through unobfuscated, the next 5 were still obfuscated. This is with version 3.3.0Beta2 [e7dc81e]

If you want the log I'll send it, but it might be better if you send me a link to install a SAB version with more granular logging and I'll try again and send that log.

Thanks again.

Also, (I'm trying to be helpful, hopefully), I see in my log file that after a download completes, deobfuscate runs:

but it is "inspecting" these files, but doesn't seem to return a result (true/false)? Is this where it should be identified as obfuscated and renamed? or am I looking in the wrong place?

Re: obfuscated names

Freds,

I've created a SABnzbd with much more logging in the deobfuscate part. Hopefully that will make clear what is going on on your system.

You can find it here (github account needed): https://github.com/sanderjo/sabnzbd/act ... /783492655

Scroll to the bottom of that page. There you wil find "Windows installer" ... click and download and install that.
Then redownload a post. Start with the 100MB reference test download under the Wrench symbol in the upper right corner.

Afterwards, in sabnzbd.log, the "deobfuscate" lines will have extra indicated with "SJ:", like below.

Post that output here.

Then do a real download, and post the the same logging in another post.

Code: Select all

2021-04-25 22:47:42,734::INFO::[postproc:530] Running deobfuscate

Re: obfuscated names

OK. I've downloaded the verbose version, installed it, ran the 100MB test successfully, and confirmed "sj" lines in the log file.

I did 2 real downloads and they were successfully renamed. That's not too unusual. The problem is intermittent. I just went in to Sonarr and had it queue up a season of a show I was getting earlier today that was not renaming. I'll keep an eye on it over the next hour or so and see how it does.

Seriously, thanks again.

I left for maybe 25 minutes and it had downloaded 5 files, none for renamed correctly. here's a snippet, changing the show's real name to TVSHOW

Let me know if you'd like the whole log file sent via email.

Well, not so good: the logging says test_download_100MB (good), but then it starts working on The.TVSHOW.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-CasStudio.mkv

Why is that? That puzzles me.

Possible causes:
* you're downloading different posts at the same time? Easy to check: make sure SAB is not doing anything at all. Then add the 100MB test file. Then check logging
* there is a bug in SABnzbd, possibly because your setup dumps everyting into \\?\z:\dls\nzb\Movies\ (without a subdirectory name)
* ... ???

When I did the test file, SAB wasn't doing anything. And I waited several minutes after it was complete before I added anything else. The file The.TVSHOW.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-CasStudio.mkv was already in the folder \\?\z:\dls\nzb\TV from earlier in the day. Is that normal SAB behavior to check ALL the files in the folder after each download completion? I download to a temporary download folder (first item on Folders settings page). Would it be possible to have SAB run the deobfuscation on the downloaded file(s) in the temp folder, before it is moved to the Completed Download folder (where there may be existing files)?

I just removed the * in the "Folder/Path" column on the Categories page. I've run 4 downloads and they all were renamed correctly. I haven't had 4 successfully deobfuscated files in a row in a couple months. Maybe this is the fix?

It seems strange that there weren't a lot of other users with this problem. Am I the only one that dumps everything in to one (actually two, TV and Movies) folder?

No, not normal. SAB-deobfuscate should only consider the given files of a download. I will build a logging version that logs/checks that.

Great!

Not a fix, but indeed a workaround

We're getting closer!

Thanks! I'll test that version when you have it ready. I would have mentioned this earlier, but thought it was normal behavior since I've seen it check all the files in the folder every time a download completes. Sorry bout that.

Update:

Main developer safihre had a look, and found the problem: Windows specific (which explains why I couldn't reproduce; I'm on Linux), and it happens before deobfuscate in https://github.com/sabnzbd/sabnzbd/blob ... #L401-L402
which 'globs' the whole directory (if on Windows), which is wrong: It should only sanitize the files in the filelist.

Patched binary is here: https://github.com/sabnzbd/sabnzbd/acti ... /788718511 . @freds can you verify this version, with your original Category settings?

Other user reporting the same is here: https://github.com/sabnzbd/sabnzbd/issues/1868

Fingers crossed.
Thanks for your perserverance with this. And thanks to Safihre.

I've downloaded and installed that version (3.3.0Beta2 [615c296]), reverted to my original category settings and started some downloads.

I'll report back later how/if it works.
