Super slow download speeds 10MB/s (from 60MB/s)

Post by farfy »

My downloads went from 60MB/s to 10MB/s and I'm not sure why. I've reset my modem/router, still slow download. If I check the 'Status and interface options' info, it shows my bandwidth at 10.9 MB/s (87.2 Mbps) but if I do a speedtest on my modem, I'm getting the full 500 Mbps

No other downloads have been affected, I download at full speed using Newsbin, it's just with Sab

Having an issue with downloading speeds, I was getting up to 80/90 min/s now 20 or less mb/s , I checked my speed test and everything was fine, optimized my computer and now my streaming speeds have doubled but my downloads are still down which means it has to be sab somehow, any help would be great ,

So hardware and Internet speed are good.

Possible other causes:
* newsserver plan
* ISP throttling newsserver traffic. Try a VPN
* virus scanner

and the Big Cause of slower downloads:
* the newsserver with the first prio does not have the articles requested

Based off what u said I tried changing the priorities from the servers… i originally had “newshosting” 1st then “usenetservers” then “eweka” now I have “usenetserver” 1st the “newshosting” last… and after 1 download it seem a bit faster definitely a far cry from what it was originally… can it be my server plan for “newshosting”?

If they're all unlimited then try to give them all the same priority. Have you tried varying the number of connections for each server?

you still on here?

Ive been having the exact same issue for last few months, ive just updated to the latest SAB today and also upgraded my internet last month from 350mb to 50mb, but still only DL'n @10-11mbs, some times it starts higher, like 40-50mbs, but then drops within 1-2 minutes

ive done the test you said for others, i can see it says my internet bandwidth is around 10.4mbs, any more info on that please? as for years its been fine, and overnight this happened,
i run it on a Qnap NAS btw

10MB/s sounds like 100 Mbps, so fast ethernet not gigabit ethernet

Yeah, thats why im lost as to why its running that slow, my internet is 500mbps, so should be getting around 60-65MB/s,

The NAS has twin 2.5GbE ports, only using one but still more then enough.

Any ideas?

Yes: 10MB/s sounds like 100 Mbps, so fast ethernet not gigabit ethernet.

So the most complete test: direct, fresh, good cat5e / cat6 cable from your Synology to your router (not your switch), check whtat your router (and if possible: your Synology) say about the link (fast ethernet, gigabit ethernet, or Nbase-T).

Only proceed if that's Gigabit or NBase-T

If so, do this:

Code: Select all

lynx --dump http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ | awk '/http:.*amd64.iso/ { print "wget -4 -O /dev/null "  $NF }'  | head -1 | /bin/sh
and during that download, press ENTER a few times to see the download speed
