Trying to understand some parts of SAB

Post by JaysNAS »

Im having a few issues with my whole setup, (*arrs, plex, sab)

That is my folder structure,

HDD
--config
--------sonarr
--------radarr
--------Sab
--------plex
--Stuff
----Usenet
--------Movies
--------Tv
--------Kids movies
--------Kids tv
--------Books
--------music
--------Incomplete
----Media
--------Movies
--------Tv
--------Kids movies
--------Kids tv
--------Books
--------music

.................................... Name--------------Path

All the *arrs------/config-------- /config/*arr name
................................./stuff-----------/stuff/

Plex--------------- /config---------/config/plex
................................. /stuff/media---/stuff/media

SABnzbd---------/config---------/config/sabnzbd
................................/stuff/usenet--/stuff/usenet

The info im looking for is below

Open sab, click gear at top right, sab config, click folders, looking for what i should put in these places below
Temporary Download Folder = ?
Completed Download Folder = ?

At the minute i have temp set to, /stuff/usenet/incomplete
And complete set to, /stuff/usenet

Next is under switches,
Should i have Enable folder rename on or off?
Also am i right in having this on - Deobfuscate final filenames?
Everything else in there ive not touched.

And lastly, under catagories, i dont really get this part, and if i need it or not, some say yes, some say no as *arrs do it, but when i have it blank then it dont send anything anywhere.
Last person said fill out the left side (category) with the folder names you have my media in, so i have them saying, movies, kids movies, tv, books, etc
But thats it, ive not changed any of the other options, i.e. Priority Processing Script Folder/Path Indexer Categories / Groups

I hae also been told to fill in all the paths for each of them, and then turn the "sorting" folder option on. but most say no.

Ive read the wiki servarr, reddit, forums, sab wiki, and other places. but not getting it for my setup

P.S. this is on a Qnap NAS and using Container Station

Temporary Download Folder = ?
Completed Download Folder = ?
These don't matter too much, *narr will understand the locations based on them querying SABnzbd's history for the location.

Should i have Enable folder rename on or off?
On

The categories I can't help you. On my system (Windows) it is handled locally and automatically by *narr, so no Category-folders are needed at all to make it work.. But maybe it is needed on Linux systems.

Deobfuscate final filenames?
Off, *narr will handle this.

I hae also been told to fill in all the paths for each of them, and then turn the "sorting" folder option on. but most say no.
Indeed: no Sorting.

does this mean the ones i have already set are fine?
Temp set to, /stuff/usenet/incomplete
And complete set to, /stuff/usenet

Deobfuscate final filenames?
Off, *narr will handle this.
Are you sure on this, as i was told the *arrs dont do that, and its down to the downloader?

Off, *narr will handle this.
For movies or single episode files this is fine; if the file is obfuscated then the folder name will be fell back to...that is of course until a new obfuscation method comes out and *arr does not reject the parsed file but rather just errors out, requiring manual import.

For season packs, this is false and should be enabled. It is on the download client to provide parsable file names
Otherwise Arr will be unable to import the season pack as the files are unable to be parsed.

In case of season packs that don't include a special rename.par2 file, Deobfuscate can't do anything and won't do anything.
