Hi all,
I'm noticing something on my SABnzbd installation that I don't really understand. The system is VERY slow when unraring passworded archives. Like, almost an order of magnitude slower. A typical 10GB archive set that is not password protected can be unarchived in about 3 minutes or so. A similar sized archive that is password protected can take 25 to 30 minutes.
Is there a switch or setting I need to change in SABnzbd to fix this? I tried to search but wasn't able to find any information.
SABnzbd version: 3.4.2
Running on QNAP NAS in a docker container
Very slow unrar for passworded archives

Re: Very slow unrar for passworded archives
No, it depends on how the archive was created. Usually pasdworded ones are created by less experienced posters that forget to disable compression when creating the archive.
If compression is applied, unpacking also takes a lot more power.
And of course the archive is encrypted with the password, so decrypting it also takes more power.
