I am noticing that my connection is being lost, it can be after several hours or even a few minutes, if I go to Config> Connections I get the warning message "Cannot connect to server news.yabnews.com:119 [502 news.yabnews.com: Access denied to your node - [email protected]]" If I then select "Unblock" it then connects again for a while, is it a problem with my SABnzbd settings or could it be my news sever?

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.

How many connections are you setting? Yabnews only offers a very low number of connections (4, 6, or 8, depending on your plan). If you're using more connections than you're allowed they're likely putting a temporary ban on your account.

Yes my plan only allows 4 connections which is what I have set in the Sever Information, should I reduce this to make the connection more stable? The Timeout is set to 120secs.

I have the exact same problem with simply usenet, they allow only 2 connections and that's how many i have set up. Time out is 240sec.
