News..
So i did a clean install Mavericks on my iMac and kept the macmini the way it is...
Installed sabnzb wit sickbeard so that i had the same configuration on both computers and downloaded a file.
Same file (1GB) needed 14 minutes post-processing on the iMac and 45 minutes on the macmini.
I went bac in macminis sabnzbd history to see that before the update a 1GB fole would need max 5 minutes to post-process...
So while i noticed a noticable faster sabnzb on my "clean installed" iMac, it is still not as fast as my macmini was before the update..

Edit: ok this was stupid...
My iMac is 8 years old, so it seems logical that postprocessing could last twice as long as my 2012 macmini;-)
So it seems that a clean install did it for me...
Will try it also on my macmini as soon as i have some spare hours...

Strakekine,
Is this extracting the file locally or to your NAS?

cheers,

I have a 2013 mac mini with SSD and 16gb ram and for me to extract a 2.5GB file to NAS took me 38 minutes - CPU usage at the time was less than <5%

Locally it took <1 minute

Ok...now i am derribly confused...
I did a clean install on my mac mini. Installed the exact same apps than on my imac and tried sabnzb&sickbeard...
Terribly slow. How can that be? Imac and macmini are exactly the same right now but on my imac it seems to work just fine and on my mini it is like before... Slow downloading and slow postprocessing!
Damn what the f&@%*

Ok... Tried again on my imac... Doesn't work. So i don't know what the deal is with it and why it worked the last time, but it seems pretty random to me.
On both machine it starts downloading at 1.6MB/sec (thats max for us here)! But as soon as i start working on other stuff, speed drops to 0 for minitues before going up and down again...?!
Think all we have to do is wait now for updates for mavericks, sickbeard an sabnzbd :-(

I haven't seen any anomalies on Mavericks yet, so there's nothing much to fix.
Except fixing Notification Centerr.

Ok?! Strange! Are you unpacking locally or did you try unpacking to NAS?
Could it be the combination with sickbeard?
Is there a tutorial somewhere how to uninstall sabnzb and sickbeard and start from beginning? I don't find something like that?
Thanks

Hey guys..
Tried to download the same files locally... Perfect!!
So i think it is du to a connectivity problem with my nas? Could it be because of the smb bug in mavericks??

Tried this:
To force all connections to be SMB1:
Open A terminal window
paste in the following line followed by the return key(should be all on one line):
echo "[default]" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf; echo "smb_neg=smb1_only" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf

What the command does:
Creates a file called nsmb.conf in your home directory at the path ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf.
Adds directives to force SMB connections to use the SMB1 protocol. This is slower but stable.

Did this on my imac and my mac mini.
On the imac it works flawless now downloading and unpacking to NAS.
On my mini however it didn't change a thing. It is still a pain to download. It last so long that i didn't even wait for the download to finish...

Think i am going to uninstall sabnzb and sickbeard...

Sorry guys...
Update again...
Did a clean sabnzb install... Still the same.
So i did the following changes:
1) i switched the temporary download folder (incomplete) from NAS to local download on my mini
2) left the folder for the complete download on my NAS
3) switched temporary folder for Sickbeard fron NAS to local.

The result is the following:
1) perfect download
2) incredible fast post processing (10 seconds for a 1,5GB file)!
3) the sickbeard script which copies files over to my NAS takes a long time tough

So while I KNOW there is something wrong with the mavericks-sabnzb-sickbeard compatibility, i can live with this configuration right now! But it seems to me that maybe the problem comes from the sickbeard script which (otherwise i cannot explain why this copiing from a file from local to nas need that much time. As when i copy something manualy, it copies at normal speed.

Interesting. Can you report this to the SickBeard team too?
