Sabnzbd suddenly shuts down without a trace [QNAP]

Hello,

I am running version 1.03 on a qnap NAS, using the package of clinton.hall. Since upgrading from 0.720 i experience issues with SAB suddenly shutting down. I don't know if SAB is the problem or someting else, but it occured after upgrading from version 0.720 to 1.xx

I can't reproduce it but sometimes SAB runs for three or four days, sometimes it runs only a day, or in one particular case for a few hours. The only thing that i can come up with is that it is download volume related (however the particular case when running for a few hours rules against that)

After restarting SAB, SAB finishes the download it was running as if nothing had happened.

The last line in my debug log today was:
2016-06-20 17:51:48,224::DEBUG::[bpsmeter:271] bps: 2450589.57951
Yesterday it was:
2016-06-19 22:10:38,031::DEBUG::[bpsmeter:271] bps: 1424846.64753
2016-06-19 22:10:38,135::DEBUG::[decoder:103] Decoding
Has someone experienced similar problems or any idea of how to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to downgrade to 0.7.20?

I think i can manage that....
I'll try that, run 0.720 and report back if the problem persists..... but would like to run the fantastic 1.xx branch...

Ok, problem is now also appearing in version 0.7.20. So clearly not a sabnzbd problem, but something else.
Strange thing is, the problem started when upgrading to a higher version of sabnzbd on the qnap. Nothing changed except for installing the necesarry git package, but that only keeps track of the installed version and does not mess with sabnzbd itself.
I am making a fully new install of sabnzbd now, hoping that will help. I will proceed this thread also on the qnap forum, but maybe you have a faint idea where the problem could derive from?

thx in advance

Would it possibly kill the process in order to do any update?

I'am trying to imagine what you mean safihre. I think you mean by IT=git. I don't think so, but i am not able to inspect that. Any leads on how to?
I'am restarting every day now on the new installation. So i am checking if it keeps happening..

Hmm maybe you use an older package from Clinton Hall?
Could you try this recent one: https://github.com/clinton-hall/test/is ... -220954245

I used the package before this one, but in essential the difference is only that the most recent version pulls from master branch, the version before that pulls from devellopment branch. I am now using the most recent package, but in order to go for the stable 1.03 version i copied the 1.03 version over the installed 1.x branch from the clinton.hall package. That should not be a problem as clinton.hall supplies a wrapper that installs the most recent master version from sabnzbd in a separated directory. But maybe i'm wrong and that is the problem ;-)) If my clean install with 1.03 shows the same problems, my next step is to only install the clinton.hall package and not copy the stable 1.03 over it.

Said that, i very much appreciate your help again! Thx!!
BTW, are you having any idea when you will provide the most recent stable version through your master devellopment branch?

Update:
I ran the clean install from 23 juni to 1 july, restarting once every day. Only fed it with sickbeard nzb's (vacation). It kept running for a week, restarting every day.
When back i threw a lot of nzb's at it. It kept running for 12 hours ending up with an error log. I assume this is not the error i had before, so i'll keep monitoring it in everyday use.

The error message i got was:
python2.7: md_rand.c:312: ssleay_rand_add: Assertion `md_c[1] == md_count[1]' failed.

I've got the exact same problem as F.Saucer
I already crossposted in the qnap forums, to no avail so far: https://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=133&t=124656

Any ideas?

Hard to tell.
The error message suggests that something deep down in the OpenSSL libraries crashes.
If you're not too worried about security, you could try downloading without SSL.

Unfortunately, downloading without SSL is not an option. I live in a country where they fine and/or arrest you if you get caught...

Maybe this helps:

Code: Select all

TIMESTAMP HERE ::INFO::[SABnzbd:1363] SSL version OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003
TIMESTAMP HERE ::INFO::[SABnzbd:1364] pyOpenSSL version 0.11
TIMESTAMP HERE ::INFO::[SABnzbd:1365] SSL potentially supported protocols ['SSLv2', 'SSLv23', 'SSLv3', 'TLSv1']
TIMESTAMP HERE ::INFO::[SABnzbd:1366] SSL actually supported protocols ['t1', 'v23', 'v3', 'v2']

I see that the OpenSSL libraries are horribly old.
Likely full of bugs too.
Isn't there something more recent available?
