Crash after update

Post by SumCanadianGuy »

Not sure what is going on but after I updated to 2.3.1 I rebooted my server and now sab will run for about 15-20 seconds and then just close. There is no error message or popup it is just gone from the taskbar. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the problem persists. Also tried running as Admin and some compatibility mode stuff just to test but no good. Running on Windows 10. Help please

Have you rebooted it once again?
The port might be occupied by something else.

Otherwise you will have to start SABnzbd from the command-line by pressing WindowsKey+R, then type cmd and hit enter.
Then run:
"C:\Program Files\SABnzbd\SABnzbd-console.exe"
(including the quotes!)
It will probably print an error.

I ran the console application from the program folder and it crashed there too only it gave a generic error that it stopped working. I have rebooted several times and am not using the default port.

You mean like one of those Crash-report things?

Can you please try this?

Not a report really. Just the windows "Sabnzbd has stopped working" pop up box where I can just say ok.

If the fresh-start doesn't work, try re-installing SABnzbd. It sounds like somehow the executable got corrupted or is blocked by antivirus. I have Avast and it does this every time with new SABnzbd version.

I don't use AV other than defender and I tried a reinstall and even a downgrade, but I will try the fresh start thing

It seems to be staying open after I deleted the ini and ini.bak I don't have any major issues setting it back up from there. Just have to remember everything I changed

Nevermind that, it just closed itself again. Not sure what else to do. I have done the fresh start, uninstalled, reinstalled, downgraded...

When did it restart? After you started changing settings?
Do you get it to start at all? In that case enable Debug logging in the Status Window, then after another crash, click Show logging in the Status Window and we can maybe see what it crashed on.

it doesn't restart it just closes. And I hadn't changed any settings yet. Sometimes it will restart a few minutes later, but most of the time it is
just closed. I can only get it to run long enough to log in now and it crashes

Oke let's try running it again from commandline but now use the command:
"C:\Program Files\SABnzbd\SABnzbd-console.exe" -l 2
(make sure via Task manager that no SABnzbd.exe is running anywhere)

This should print Debug information to the screen and we can see the last lines before it crashes.

Do you maybe know what version you used before?
I have seen this problem only once before and was not able to resolve it just yet (very hard to reproduce).

I had 2.3.0 then went to 2.3.1 I tried to go back to 2.3.0 but it didn't change anything. I mean I am using a crappy computer but it has worked for the past month with no issues.
