Uppercase on damaged files

Post by Zinu »

As with Newsleecher, it puts filenames in uppercase when the file is damaged. This eases the detection of files to delete and re-download. Could this be implemented?

Not a very good idea. SABnzbd is a multi-platform app.
This would create unrepairable files on other platforms.
Also, this shouldn't be happening often.

If you need to scrape together files and par2 files manually often,
then SABnzbd isn't the program for you.

It's just a filename thing, I don't see what's the big change in that?  ???

As I understand it, there are some operating systems that can't handle uppercase filenames.
SABnzbd is designed to work on all OS's that run python.
By making this small change for you, it could effectively break SAB for other users.

On a case-sensitive operating system, par2 would not recognize the files anymore.
This is no issue for Windows, it is for others.
Also, not everyone would like this change and we are not going to add another oddball option.
(We have too many already).
