Ideally, you want SAB to download your films and stick them in a temporary directory. This can anywhere you want, but it's not where you want to store your movies long term. Let's call that folder "Download"
Set the location of this "Download" folder in CP. CP will periodically scan the "Download" folder, rename what files it finds there, move them where they belong (your "Movie Destination" folder), and delete the old files in "Download".
Let's say you download "The Green Hornet (2011)".
Initially, the path is something like this:
C:\Users\Jarcol\Download\The.Green.Hornet.2011.TS.-KiNGDOM\The.Green.Hornet.2011.TS.-KiNGDOM.avi
You have set CP to scan your downloads folder at "C:\Users\Jarcol\Download", and when it does (which might be in a few minutes) it will find the film. Presuming there's an .nfo with the movie, or the name is reasonably clear, CP will determine that "The.Green.Hornet.2011.TS.-KiNGDOM" is actually "Green Hornet, The (2011)" and will rename both the folder and the .avi file.
After renaming everything, CP will move it to your "Movie Destination" folder. Maybe that looks like this:
C:\Users\Jarcol\Movies\Green Hornet, The (2011)
and it will delete the folder, .avi file, and anything else you want from "Downloads".
That's the process in a nutshell. Does it clear anything up?

Is it possible for CouchPotato to start silently (without starting the internet explorer)
For SickBeard it is possible to start it on Windows startup as service. I've tried this in the same way for CouchPotato as well, but then the service automatically stops immediately.

With couch potato would I be right in thinking that I should be able to add a film to my list and if it is already available it will just go and grab it? e.g. no waiting period at all? (max wait until next time it checks)?
The reason I ask is mine isn't doing this.
I have set quality myself...and have asked for a high quality first all the way down to screener - asking it to stop downloading once it finds a dvdrip.
But for some reason - cannot figure it out...it doesn't grab them...
Ocassionally it does - so I know it is setup with sabnzb correctly...but not always!!

As you can see there are a lot of older films - rush hour 1,2,3 bridget jones etc...cannot understand why it cannot find them - they are on nzbs.org - I have checked! Any elp most appreciated!!

I just did a fresh install of CouchPotato and for some reason NZBs are not making it to SAB. The CouchPotato log shows that they are but nothing in SAB. Anyone have any ideas? Here is a section from the log after forcing a search:

Here's a suggestion for a new feature:
It would be cool to be able to set "preferred words" and "required words" on a single movie basis. Sometimes I want a movie in a certain language while I want most others in another. This doesn't seem to be possibly currently.

Wow, firstly let me say CouchPotato is awesome so far!
Would it be possible to add into the renaming part like sabNZBd can? I sort my movies into decade folders so it means I have to sort them myself which is ok, but it would be far cooler for CP to do it then I can sync with XBMC

downloaded couchpotato today and it was a breeze to configure and get it running. Great Job!
I do have one request though. I love the fact that I can rename and move the files but I like to keep the original filename for the download and only have the folder renamed, that way when looking for a subtitle it is easier to match it to the release of the download. I thought if I just leave the field for the filename empty it would do just that but it rather doesn't do anything at all.

I do have one request though. I love the fact that I can rename and move the files but I like to keep the original filename for the download and only have the folder renamed, that way when looking for a subtitle it is easier to match it to the release of the download. I thought if I just leave the field for the filename empty it would do just that but it rather doesn't do anything at all.
Could this be remedied in a next release?
