Nice to see the new gadget is tried out!
it just hangs on 'trying settings' and never returns.
Sometimes when you connect to localhost it won't work, try 127.0.0.1 it might work. (i think this has something to do with ipv6). If this is not the problem i will look in to it when i get home.
the trying settings is still a bit buggy ;) but it's nice to hear the load ini works sort of.

the queue still does not scroll heh? i tought i fixed that, seems like a did not commit my source when i left home!
hehe to bad, my laptop is sent back for warranty so it's probably lost ;)

i allso have not had any API key problems, i always test with the latest pre release.
anyone tried out the "turtle mode" ?

when i get home i will fix these issues en then take another shot at resorting of the queue. (it just drove my crazy last time i tried, because if the new way the gadget works i need to swap HTML elements in staid of just refreshing all the html).

anyone tried to drag an nzb file to the gadget yet?

Any suggestions besides these fixes?
Not tried turtle mode or dragging/dropping NZBs but the completed directory button isn't working. It sends me to 'My Documents'.
EDIT: Also seeing nothing from the queue re-organising thing.

as for the completed directory, I think this is also read from the ini-file. Check whatever is configured in the gadget settings. (second tab).
The my documents folder wil open when the configured path is not found.

As for the Queue sorting it's just not finished. (It's sort of a pain in the ass)

Thanks for the feedback

hmm, unless the configured path is not valid i can't see why it would open up My Documents...
will look into it next year ;)

didn't anyone notice the beautiful animations on the progressbars  :'( ;)

Using with 0.5.0 Beta 5, gadget seems to work fine on Win7 64 - thanks for the update!

FYI, the 'test connection' button doesn't work, but as long as settings are correct, the gadget does do its thing.  My completed downloads button is configured and working.

Nice animation - I do miss the sound it used to play on download completion, though...

Great, thanks!

P.S. I tried a .nzb drag and drop - nice feature allowing the category selection.  Worked just fine for me, although with .nzb file association in .5 I'm not sure how often I'll use that.  Nice to have the option!

yea the file association in .5 is great! but i didn't really use categories until i the gadget supported it :)
i like my incoming directory to be a bit structured ;)

ill will fix the 'test connection' first when i get home.

Hey everyone,

I got the gadget installed and am able to pause / resume downloads and it shows accurate info for speed and progress.

I am not however able to see the queue or sort the queue using the queue fly-out menu.  It pops out but does not show anything.

Has anyone else had this happen?

OS Windows 7 RTM x64
I tried the gadget with both the x86 and x64 versions of sidebar.exe.

Hi pieteckhart, just started running your gadget and a couple of things don't seem to work, (or I'm missing something).

Some info first, SABnzbd is running on a dedicated PC on my LAN on XP Pro, it has no firewall and I can access it fine from any other PC on the LAN.  It has no username/password and even though the API key is disabled, it's still required for some operations, (a bug in SABnzbd AFAIAC).
The sidebar gadget is installed on my main PC running Win7HP, it shows the queue, I can pause/resume and reorder.

1) When you click the folder icon for the Complete directory, (\\x.x.x.x\SABnzbd\Complete), it also opens the folder of where the gadget is installed on the local machine.
2) Drag'n'Drop to add things doesn't seem to work - it sits there saying uploading and I have to close it to fix it.  This occurs even with all firewalls disabled.

Otherwise, it all seems to work OK - Good job  ;D

I am having trouble setting up the side bar.

Don't suppose someone would confirm a few things for me?:

1) Can it we used remotely?
2) Will it work with HTTPS enabled?
3) What is the best version to use with Windows Vista?
4) What is the best version to use with Windows 7?

Reason I ask above is because I am stumped to why it doesn't work. I can ping the host name no problem and load SABnzbd from host:9090/SABnzbd no problem in a browser.

Am I being useless?

Thanks

sorry there is no https support (yet) i did some testing and its not as simple as changing http:// into https:// i think internet explorer has some security that blocks the certificate. i need to find a way around it or some way to trust the certificate so i can do requests to https sources.

today i uploaded a new version of the gadget that has a few long awaited fixes:

- Queue Scrollbars
- Connection Test (works again!)
- Loading of sabnzbd.ini works with latest build.
- completed dir now opens correctly on Windows 7

more to come...

What is your most recent Vista gadget version?  The sab2 gadget for Windows 7 from your previous post always hangs for me in Vista.  I am currently running 1.0.1.8 just fine in Vista.

Version 2.0.0.4
Download: http://eckhart.hopto.org/sabgadget/sabgadget2.gadget
new site: http://eckhart.hopto.org/sabgadget/

Version 1.0.1.8
Download: http://www.kijknaarons.nl/wp-content/up ... sab.gadget

FAQ
1) Can it we used remotely?
Yes just make sure you have forwarded port 8080 (default) in your router.
(instructions: http://www.portforward.com/english/appl ... oindex.htm)

2) Will it work with HTTPS enabled?
No, but i am experimenting with it.

3) What is the best version to use with Windows Vista?
use the latest v1 (more features) or the latest v2 (support for newer SABnzbd+ versions)

4) What is the best version to use with Windows 7?
2.0.0.4+

5) Why can't i reorder the the queue like in the v1 versions?
i am having some problems with this feature. But i'm working on it.

6) Why can't my gadget connect to localhost?
sometimes connecting to localhost does not work correctly. use 127.0.0.1 in staid. This has something to do with localhost also pointing to  IPv6 addresses.

7) Why does "My Documents" open when i click the completed directory button?
This is a bug, its fixed in the latest version, time to upgrade!

8) What is that in the top right corner?
It is supposed to look like a turtle, when you click on it and it glows orange the turtle mode is enabled.
it will throttle your speed to the limit set in the gadget settings. click on it again to have "unlimited" speed ;)

TODO List
- Queue Sorting
- Queue Finished Sound
- Speed Graph
- HTTPS (if possible)
