I have the SABnzbd 0.7.16-07 with the 1.19 CharTranslator.py script running and use Spotnet finding and loading NZB into SAB, but something strange happened when I try to use the script and configure the category tab in SABnzbd with:
-Modus: +delet
-Script: CharTranslator.py
it then skips the auto unraring and unpacking ???

See script results (shortened a little bit)

Code: Select all

Bløf_-_Het_Eind_van_het_Begin.part01.rar
Launching CharTranslator Python script (v1.9) ...

When I use:
-Modus: +delet
-Script: none
it unrar and unpacks perfectly but then of course I have the problem with the special characters.

If u need some more info just let me know, i hope u can help me because I am tired using Telnet to delete the corrupted folders.

Hello Jbask,

You got the latest SabNZBd from SynoCommunity and the latest version of the script.
Now, I really don't have a clue of what's going on... To me it seems something is wrong in Sabnzbd. Indeed, SabNZBd is controlling all the flow. So, my script is launched by SabNZBd and the script doesn't have any controls on the verify/repair/unpack flow.
The only thing I could recommend you (if it's possible) will be to uninstall the all things, then start a fresh install.
Sorry, I've not been very helpful. It is the best I can suggest for the moment.

Hello LapinFou,

Thanks for the fast reaction. And thanks fore the great tutorail for implementing the Chars-trans script. At first i thought is was a hell of a job because of the length of the tutorial. But after I read the hole tutorial I notest there was only one thing I had to do to implement the script fast en clean, instal the Mertymade Config File Editor on the Syno Nas and copy/past the 1.9 version.

Yes I have got my SAB from SynoCommunity.
Ok, I understand that it is a SAB problem because of the sequence, and the (your) script is executed as last so it hase nothing to do with the script but with SAB itself.
I have spend much time in tweaking SAB and don't want to spend that time again before i have excluded all probabilities of the different settings within SAB.
So before I do a complete uninstall and than a new instal of SAB, can you give me your setting of
SABnzbd --> Config --> Switshes --> Post Processing
I think thats the/my problem.

I also notices the differte order of the icons of your sprint screen in youre tutorial.
Mine incons = Site - Downloded - Unpack - Fast Check - Script
Your incons = Site - Downloded - Fast Check - Unpack - Script

Than the last question, when I uninstall SAB in the Synology Package Center will this remove everything of SAB aplication on my Syno or do I have to remove some folders by hand?

Thank for your comment ! ;D
I tried to make the tutorial as much user-friendly I could.

If your are Linux aware, the config file of SAb is here (SynoCommunity version):
/usr/local/sabnzbd/var/config.ini
If you must do a fresh install you may always use tkdiff to see what is the difference between a fresh (hopefully) working config file and yours version which is not working well.

Here are my post-processing settings:

And last answer ;) (I didn't see you question yesterday), you don't need to do anything.
Sab will be properly removed with the package center under DSM. You can keep the 'complete/incomplete' download folders.

Thanks, did a new instal and test, everything is working perfect. 8)

Also thanks for the /usr/local/sabnzbd/var/config.ini TIP ;)
Did a comparison in Notepad++, ideal for setting the original settings straight, but could not find anything wrong.

Thanks for your time and fast reply.

Thank you very much for this script. It works lika charm!
One question though: is it possible to apply this script to an existing folder that has problems with non ascii characters?

Yes you can (as explained in the middle of the tutorial... ::) ).
From a telnet session using the following command line, if you are using the SynoCommunity repository.
For example if you want to fix the folder download/complete, then type the command:
/usr/local/sabnzbd/var/scripts/CharTranslator.py /volume1/download/complete

Note1: no options must be enabled in CharTranslator.py script (such as DLNA, sickbeard, etc...). This is the case by default.
Note2: the script is recursive, so all sub-folders inside the target folder will also be processed.

Keep me inform if it did work.

Thank you for your clear explanation. Now I was finally able to rename a folder with a lot of 'bad' files!
Very nice piece of work! Highy appreciated!!
