Connection Problems newsdemon

Post by Mike258 »

Hi ,I was having Connection/Certificate Problems and on live chat last night I
was told upgrade SAB to 1.2.0, delete server.cert and key and disable certificate verification.
I did all that and still had to put a security exception in Firefox to open Sadnzbd
and when trying to DL I get a warning
2017-02-14 19:36:43,888 WARNING:Cannot connect to server
news.newsdemon.com [502 Welcome (fx40.iad)]
When I test sever I get a pink box ! 502 Welcome (fx39.iad)
Why can't I connect to Newsdemon ? Maybe I should uninstall everything and
the settings and start over ?
I'm running Windows Vista

You're describing two (or three) problems, and you're mixing them up. Please one subject per thread.

What is the exact message in the pink box?

502 Welcome (fx39.iad).
Short:
Check your newsdemon user and password, and fill them out correctly in SABnzbd.
BTW: I would expect you get a "Failed login for server news.newsdemon.com" as soon as you start downloading. Can you check that?

Long:
The meaning of response code "502" in the RFC https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3977 :

Code: Select all

If the client is not authorized to use the specified facility when
the server is in its current state, then the appropriate one of the
following response codes MUST be used.

502: It is necessary to terminate the connection and to start a new
one with the appropriate authority before the command can be used.
Historically, some mode-switching servers (see Section 3.4.1) used
this response to indicate that this command will become available
after the MODE READER command (Section 5.3) is used, but this
usage does not conform to this specification and MUST NOT be used.
Note that the server MUST NOT close the connection immediately
after a 502 response except at the initial connection
(Section 5.1) and with the MODE READER command.
That's a bit cryptic. But when I try newsdemon with some fake username/password, I get "502 Authentication Failed" in the pink box. So 502 ... correct your username/password.

I'm confused that/why you get "502 Welcome" ... 502 means "refused", but then it says Welcome too? ???

Anyway: 502, so check your Newsdemon username/password

The strange thing is I never changed anything in the settings. This all started last week when Firefox updated itself. But it does the same thing in IE.I also have Kaspesky Internet which I turned off and still got the same results. I just put the password back in and the same thing happened. Here's so lines from the end of the Debug log if that's any help.
