Sabnzbd not picking up nzbs in watched folder, not adding downloads

Post by urbanriot »

Sabnzbd 2.3.3 was working fine, no issues, just sitting there idle since my last download last night.

A few nzb files were added to the watched folder, went about my business, came back later and my downloads hadn't started. Restarted sabnzbd and no change. Initiated a Queue Repair and restart, no change. The queue stays empty.

Things I've tried:
- Restarted
- Queue Repair
- Changed watched folder to a folder on another drive
- Manually added nzb file (doesn't get listed)
- Paused and unpaused
- Made sure download speed was 100%

There's no warnings. No indication that anything is wrong.

Please help! Thanks in advance!

The usual suspects are:

No working newsserver connection (check with Test Server)
Nothing in the Download queue
SABnzbd paused by user in GUI
SABnzbd's schedule set to paused
Individual downloads paused

And maybe double check if the Watched folder is readable for SABnzbd.
You can also enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and then in the main menu (the hamburger icon) click 'Scan watched folder now'.
Does it add downloads then?
Otherwise download the log and check near the end (above the copy of the settings) if it shows any errors.

Thanks for the responses guys.

In response to sander:
- the servers are working fine, but even if they weren't the software would still pickup my nzbs
- nothing in the download queue is actually my problem, the nzbs are not getting into my download queue!
- SABnzbd is not paused as per above
- SABnzbd does not have any schedules
- no individual downloads are paused as there aren't any

In response to safihre:
- the watched folder is actually on a FAT drive (RAMDrive) but also I tried moving it to another folder as a test, no change
- i'll try debug logging, thanks, will update shortly
- scanning watched folder doesn't add the nzbs (as per above)
- no logs with regular (not debug mode)

I set logging to +Debug but there's nothing logged because it's not taking in new files. I manually uploaded an .NZB file and set it to 'Force' status and nothing happened. It's not in my queue.

If I trigger a 'retry all failed' it will try and retry all failed. It just won't process new downloads.

Ah, now I see. Based on your quote "came back later and my downloads hadn't started. ", I thought they were in the Download queue.

My advice was for "In Download queue, but not downloading"

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I shut down sabnzbd, turned it back on, scanned my watch folder, attempted to add an nzbd file, and this is what I see:

Go in Config > Folders and use the "Browse" next to the Watched Folder to browse to the folder you are downloading the NZB's to. Maybe go up/down the folders a bit to make sure it's correct.
Then enable Advanced Settings and check "Watched Folder Scan Speed", what is it set to?

I already changed the watched folder to another folder as a test and that didn't help and I've since set it back. It's definitely set to the right folder, which I can see in the interface as well as the log. I changed it a few more times since then too.

Watched speed is set to 5, but remember I initiated a manual scan and you can see that at the bottom of the log I posted:
2018-05-13 13:42:22,049::INFO::[dirscanner:448] Scheduled or manual watched folder scan

I think there is a bug here... as I said earlier everything was working fine, has been working fine for months, and nothing changed. It just randomly stopped working.

I am wondering if there is a queue database file I can delete that might reset things... ?

Have you tried a different NZB? Is it really a ".nzb" file? And if you add it manually/directly to SAB, does it work?
It's a strange problem.. If it was broken in the code, I would expect many people reporting problems.
Not sure at the moment how to debug it.

I just wiped out all instances of sabnzbd and started from scratch and it's all working. Not sure what happened but thanks for trying to help, at least it got me to this point faster :)
