I have not used usenet in a few years. I just signed up for a 50 connection unlimited newshosting account
I tried sabnzbd first and I am only getting around 1/5 of my connection speed. I then tried newshostings newsreader they provide and it was maxing out my connection. I am not sure if I have a setting incorrect on sab, but I've upped the connection limit, tried ssl/no ssl, ensured that no throttling was set...etc
Any other ideas, as I know its not the connection

Re: New to usenet - troubleshooting speeds
I am currently on wifi - but i am getting 250Mbs from Fast and 15MBs from Sab
Re: New to usenet - troubleshooting speeds
I was on wired earlier, just not was able to get to wired when I typed this post.
The 1000mb file was getting me slightly faster speeds then I was able to get on any large file I found out on an indexer.
Fast is showing 700Mbs now, and the 1000mb file is showing 40MBs, and a large file I pulled off an indexer was only hitting 25MBs
Re: New to usenet - troubleshooting speeds
So:
700 Mbps linespeed
1000MB newsserver download speed 40 MB/s = 320 - 360 Mbps. So 1/2 of linespeed. Do you agree?
Possible causes of your newsserver download speed being lower than linespeed:
- your disk speed; test with "Download folder speed" right above the Test Download in SABnzbd. The unrar process does a lot of simultaneous writing & reading
- your CPU speed; let SAB check your pystone speed, a few lines above the Test Download
- your newsserver plan; maybe limited to a certain speed
- newsserver with long delay (test with ping), depending on the distance between you and the newsserver
- too little or too many connections to your newsserver
- just one server
- more than one newsserver with one newsserver slowing down the total. So try just one newsserver.
Large file: 25 MB/s = 200 - 225 Mbps. Can be caused by the age of your download.

1/2 line speed. I do agree.sander wrote: ↑April 14th, 2019, 12:58 pmSo:

Download folder speed: writing to NAS - 1.3MB/s
System performance: 42383
Newserver plan: Newshosting dot com - Unlimited - 50 connections (changed to use all 50, from 8 )
Newshosting comes with its own newsreader, that I was able to max my connection with. However, I tried on a different day, with a different file. - 50 connections

OK, your NAS drive is the bottleneck. Put Download Folder and Complete Folder both on your local disk, and try again.
System performance: 42383 ... that's not too impressive either. What kind of CPU is this? SABnzbd will tell you too; to the right of that pystonde index. I guess it's not a Core i3/i5/i7, but something lower specced.

Thanks for the investigation so far.sander wrote: ↑April 14th, 2019, 1:16 pmOK!

The NAS is a DS918+ writing to WD RED drives over the 1Gbs line. I can change everything to local.
CPU is not that old ...Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ 2.60GHZ
I just re ran the cpu test again, 88556. It was mid clearing a Radarr list when I ran it the first time.
Re: New to usenet - troubleshooting speeds
And? Did you set both Download and Complete folder to your local drive, and test the download speed again?
