slow downloads and cant access web interface

Post by Cokeaddict »

Hi all
I im having trouble with sabnzb. Its downloading very slow @ 250kbs in the taskbar but turn on my vpn and it goes up to 7MB/s which has been happening for the past 12-24hrs

I also cant access the web interface anymore and comes up with

This site can’t provide a secure connection sent an invalid response.
Try running Windows Network Diagnostics.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Have i been hacked?

Torrents work fine no problem

cheers

Same here in terms of restricted speed. Getting 1.3MB/s when I normally get 30. Both with Thundernews and Blocknews. Bizarre

I have worked out why the interface wasnt showing up ive changed versions from 3.2.0 Beta1 to 3.2.0 RC2 but speeds are still the same without my VPN on

Looks like it’s an ISP issue for me.

Lots of people have reported speed problems with Highwinds servers the last week, there's a thread about it on r/usenet. Both Thundernews and Blocknews are HW resellers. They are probably being throttled by one or more ISPs.

Try using VPN or a different usenet provider which isn't using Highwinds or Omicron servers. It might be permanent if the ISP is throttling. Also try both version 3.1.1 and 3.2.0 RC2.

Probably, as everyone complaining about speed in this thread (and not hiding behind a vpn) appears to be from the same country and on the same isp.

If it was my isp i would be getting slow speeds using torrents and off the net but i wasnt as i was still downloading at my peak so it wasnt my isp.

No. An ISP can throttle traffic with certain IP addresses and/or ports. Read: a certain News provider and/or News traffic (port 119 and 563)

Your earlier statement "turn on my vpn and it goes up to 7MB/s" proves exactly that: An ISP cannot selectively throttle traffic in a VPN.
