Sabnzbdplus unable/refusing to run on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS Sever

So my original installation which was running the Desktop version recently crashed. Because I don't really use the GUI, I went with a pure server installation this time with the above as LTS. However I seem to be having endless problems around getting the installation to run.

I have used the installation methods via PPA, running the nobeta branch. Download, repositories , all seem fine. However when I want to start the program, manually or via service is where I start running into issues.

I configured the correct user in /etc/default/sabnzbdplus but seem to be running into multiple folder and device permission issues across the board. I've set the respective writes and directories on the various folders but still suffer instances in the logs where the system can't perform actions or complains around being able to.

Is there maybe a incompatibility with this version? I'm now attempting a full purge of the system and re-install again, failing that I might try a older linux server or fall back to a desktop version again.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated, have attempted:

• folder permissions
  customizing service and units

I haven't even managed to restore my backup yet as its unable to start.

Murphys law, solved it.

Was a issue with the /home/user/.sabnzbdplus folder needing to be readable by root/system and user. Changed the permission on that file to 755 and its working.
